Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

As the years went on, it lost a bit of steam - there was an element of repetition and thus of boredom creeping in - but it's easy to see how and why it became so popular.I'm especially fond of the various cameos sprinkled through the series, particularly when these cameos come with a hefty dose of surrealism. (An example : an older lady, looking both frail and distinguished, is asked whether she is a Mrs. Clarkson, former governor general. When the lady replies that yes, this is indeed her name, she is immediately invited to help tear down a barn. Seconds later she is shown mauling a barn, with all the fervent pleasure of a missionary tearing down pagan idols - because hey, that's what you do when you're a Canadian.) Firmly recommended : the episode where Dog River engages in a twinning project with a Japanese counterpart. It all ends in tears, with innocent civilians fleeing in panic before the inexplicable cruelty of the Dogriverians. (Or Dogruperians. Or something.)

View MoreIn terms of language and characters, it has resemblance to Seinfeld, but on different and original levels. The setting of the show - remote corner within a country like Canada - is nostalgic and feels at home. The typical village style comedy and characters are nice.Describes a laid back lifestyle of Canadians in general; never a thing to worry, 'just live' kind of attitude.Predictability is difficult to assess, and native ties of characters enhances the outcome of dialogue. Some episodes really amazed me.Relax and it will be fun. Great work Brent.
... View MoreI must say, this is one of the all-time worst sitcoms that I have ever viewed. It ranks right up there with Curb Your Enthusiasm as first rate letdowns. I went into this show really wanting to like it, but it gave me no reason whatsoever to become an avid viewer of the show. I gave it a two episode trial and didn't laugh at a single "joke" that was presented in this lifeless, flat sitcom. This show gives "dry-humor" a whole new meaning.Having sat through the two episodes at my brother's house, since I can't bring myself to pay for USA's Monk - the only watchable show on television today - I can breath easy, knowing that I am not missing anything worthwhile on the tube. Brent Butt, who seems to be lauded as a Canadian Jerry Seinfled, is the most colorless, lifeless lead I've ever seen in a sitcom. The writing for this show is clearly done by people lacking even a working knowledge of the word "funny." The similarities to Seinfeld end with the basis of the plot - both shows being about nothing. Where Seinfeld was witty and had spontaneous jokes, Corner Gas builds up their jokes at such an excessive degree that you see them coming, ruining their value. A joke with an obvious punchline is dead-on-arrival, folks - just like this show.
... View Morecorner gas is about a small town the hub of the town being the gas station/coffee shop diner.the main characters a couple police,2 gas station attendance,a diner owner, the gas station attendance's parents and a goof off with no job.i watched the first 3 seasons with pleasure.i found the show was exactly like the small Saskatchewan town i grew up in. it was witty and very accurate in the portrayal of small town life. but i believe the show has run its course and is losing momentum. I'm finding the story lines to be boring and uninteresting. its getting boring watching them try and come up with things to do in a gas station/diner.
