Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
... View MoreIt’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
... View MoreThe film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
... View MoreGo in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.
... View MoreThe best thing about catastrophe is its realism. Yet at best, its realistic because its mundane. But that's life, right? But mundane isn't necessarily bad - curb your enthusiasm demonstrates this well, showing how sometimes, the funniest humor can be found in the simplest of situations. But this is just mundane. Its dull. No wit, no originality and despite its realism, somehow the characters still seem so unlikable. I get that Sharon isn't meant to be portrayed as perfect. I get that we are meant to see her flaws, as a real human being. But she's just not a very interesting human. The same goes for Rob (the other main character) - he's just a bit of a boring man. No quirks, a glimmer of a personality. His character almost develops a bit at one point, but then nope. Nothing. The jokes are sometimes worth a little chuckle, but only an inside voice chuckle. Not memorable, not witty...Its one redeeming feature is that it has a very funny Scottish guy in it. Apart from that, meh.
... View MoreI can't believe I wasted time watching the entire first season, which came across as just OK. It was OK enough though to check out season 2..watched first episode and I'm out! They're depressing, wretched characters that aren't even funny. Season 2 opens with them each being a real piece of work. They hate each other, they hate their families, they hate their friends, they hate their kids, and they even hate their (new) dog. S02 E01 was such an epic wreck and a downer. The dog gets run over and they throw it away in the trash. The real catastrophe is whoever is writing the garbage. This show is a 'Shameless' wannabe and an absolute hack. I'm sure there are some writers out there that could SOMEHOW turn a dead dog scenario into something humorous, but this was just callous and whoever wrote it is mental and whoever read it and approved it is an even bigger nutjob. Next!
... View MoreCatastrophe may be the best written show in several years. All six episodes in the first season crackle with the best of England's dry humor and America's unflappable confidence in the face of impending disaster. As a topper, Chris Bonner has what is probably the most outrageously funny line in many years toward the end of the first episode. You'll probably have to rewind a couple of times to get it all, but it's really worth it. Kudos to Susan Horgan and Rob Delaney for not only writing it, but making such a compelling couple. Their fights are bare knuckle verbal brawls and the inevitable makeups tender but believable. I can't wait for the next batch of episodes. If season two is as good as one, this series is headed for my all-time favorites sitcoms list with Taxi, WKRP in Cinncinati, and The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin!
... View MoreThis show is just fun!! Right from the very start, it just grabs you as does not let go. These two (Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney) are truly talented.. on both sides of the camera. Why can't we learn here in the US how to produce these kinds of quality programs. And it's only the early going for this series, but it's hoped that it might have a very long run, for it is everything you can want in this genre of programming. Yes, it's a TV series comedy, but really it is so much more, and it has a not-real/ real-life quality about it that is most appealing and entertaining. All categories are well done.. casting, writing, acting, and production values. There are few, if any, weaknesses. It appears it will wind up being a sixteen episode split-season. It's wished there would be more, but you'd find few to complain, just as long as they can kept it going with such outstanding quality work.
