The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

I love supernatural shows - the acting in this though... wow its terrible! Elena (Laura Vandervoort)and Jeremy especially, which is pretty dire as they are two of the main characters. I honestly believe with different actors the show could actually be a lot better - as the story lines, plot twists are really good. Season 1 better than 2 and 3.

Finally saw the series. For a werewolf series, As an adaption of Kelley Armstrong's books, it is extremely poor. I had the feeling the writers for the show read the books only to get the names of the characters in the book. The two story arc's in the first season presented are way out in left field. But it (kind of) paid lip service to the book Bitten. The second season extended the trend of ignoring the direction of Kelley's excellent books. And did not even bother with anything more than the names of the characters. The third was a mercy killing of the mess. One of the things I have always admired is the strength of Kelley's characters. That would be missing from the series. The characters behavior bear no resemblance to Kelley's. Clay in the book is mostly wolf, in the series he is completely human. Elena is a wimp. None of the characters in the series seem like werewolves at all. None of their personalities matches the presentation in the series. Regeneration? Nope. Werewolves fighting? Nope. Silver nope. After all that, I think the episode writers would have done MUCH better to not do an 'adaptation' but instead attempt to write their own series.thinking about it... that is what they did.

Sort of Sons of Anarchy with Werewolves, but without the charm or laughs or depth. Plot a bit one dimensional. Characters mostly wooden.Lead unfeasably skeletal. Jeremy completely unbelievable in a leadership role.

Disclaimer: I am a huge Kelley Armstrong fan and thus hugely biased. The following review is about the quality of adaption, it does NOT analyze the show in a vacuum. For non-book readers, I give the show a 5/10, maybe a 6 if I was feeling generous, but for fans of the book it's a 3. But hey, you're probably more forgiving than me, so don't hesitate to go forth and form your own opinions. That said, I am annoyed about a bunch of little things, which I would happily dismiss were it not for one or two big things. I won't waste time nitpicking and go straight into those.I really don't appreciate how they massaged everything to fit the most generic mold possible. The book is, yeah, super pulpy in premise, but it's dynamic in tone, full of playful scenes and contemplative scenes, steamy scenes, scenes with tension, with grief, with rage... The show aims for just straight-up tension almost all the way through, which just isn't enjoyable to watch. The show's scenes where Elena interacts with the other Pack members are bizarrely stilted, unlike the boisterous family dynamic I had expected. Plus, as an added vexation, the show mimics the atmosphere of other shows in the genre (cough cough, Hemlock Grove) and thus in my opinion aims for mediocrity. My biggest complaint, though, is what they did to Clay as a character. In the book, Elena is the only one who acts hostile. When she first comes home, she greets him with jabs while he counters with jokes. In the show, Clay is completely stripped of the sense of humour that is one of the basic elements of his character. They turn him into some brooding caricature with no likability. One of the other reviewers on this site even suspected him of being ABUSIVE towards Elena, which is the most obvious demonstration of why the changes made to his character were the wrong ones.Even Elena's character is watered down, and she's the freaking protagonist! The woman is SUPPOSED to have an attitude! SHOW IT! To have both lead roles portrayed so inadequately makes the show almost unwatchable for me.
