Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

I don't like football, but I really like this show. I just finished watching Season 3, and wish there were more than 10 episodes. I like Dwayne Johnson's movies, but I really like seeing him in something that calls for more depth of character. I was pulled into Season 1 right away by the storylines and the characters. I really enjoy having a behind the scenes look at the business side of football and the personal lives of the players on and off the field. I do have my criticisms as well, thus the headline. I think story and acting are awesome. The writing has been criticized as having too many cliches and stereotypes. In Season 3 I definitely caught some mistakes - the financial numbers of the characters' business deals didn't seem to add up from episode to episode, and the storylines about medical issues were really lacking. I caught some mistakes in how the actors said their lines more than once (if that was intentional it didn't work for me), and sometimes the scenes just seemed rushed, could have been edited better, or something. Also, there are comedic elements, but should it really be classified as a comedy? Whatever would make it better - consultants, better continuity, increased budget, more time, I would really like to see the quality increased and more episodes in future seasons. Despite my criticisms, I definitely want to see more seasons!

For those that haven't yet started Ballers, well then you're seriously missing out. Season 1 & 2 just couldn't be any more fun. Primarily based in a world of 'tit's & ass (and who doesn't love that?!),' it's a wonderful 'no brainer' show with some interesting subplots...second of course to the T&A and general over-indulgence. Great performances from Dwayne Johnson and a number of the supporting cast, however prepare yourself the likes of Donavon Carter (Vernon) and others who'll make your question if the Casting Director has a substance abuse issue..10/10, I can't get enough of this show! ...however..Before you fall in love too quickly, beware of Season 3. I'm not sure if we've seen a switch in writers but for what was already a pretty basic/simple show, the writing now feels terribly lazy. What was at first a show routed in entertainment; cheap thrills and a structured plot, somehow loses its way completely. You'll find yourself re-watching everything you saw in 1 & 2, only with a slightly different spin - Spencer again has a medical condition to contend with (which will later be discarded and never mentioned again), they need to take on another rich businessman (who knew 'Mahoney' couldn't act?!), and so on. Far worse is the show seems to lose its identity focusing less on fantasy lifestyles and switching to tackling 'corporate greed' - be prepared to endure the "You sound like a rich white guy" line more than once. Season 3 feels less like Ballers, and more like an afternoon with The Walton's installing solid family and moral values. I've already purchased the first two seasons, I'm starting to question if this was a mistake..So, Ballers is a great show. Just don't start investing your money until we've seen Season 4 and know if 3 was just a blip!

When i start watching it i watched the first two eps with my brother and when i asked him about what he thought about them he said "its nice kinda like Any Given Sunday of some sort" So yeah maybe its like that, maybe it has Entourage all over it (Maybe a little of Playmakers?) but no wonder about the "Entourage" thing after all Mark Wahlberg is on the execute producer(s) titles but i really enjoy it and for those who don't seems to like it at the beginning trust me wait till ep 04 that ep rocks!!!! (And from that ep if the first three weren't enough good for you up to THAT ep the last ones will be trust me don't give up watch it all buddy) The main theme "Right Abover It" is awesome each time i watch the tittles the images reminds me kinda like Any Given Sunday and yes, if i analyze the "football theme" angle this show is way better than Friday Night Lights and YES (eith big letters) the Rock rocks he can act!!! Awesome show solid 8 watch it!!!

Ballers started off great with some interesting conflicts that you couldn't wait to see how they turned out. In the end, all the conflicts were solved to easily and made it feel like a real let down. For example, when the Vernon Littlefield blackmail situation came up in the show, what would have made it interesting was if Vernon's best friend was behind it. In the end it was Spencer Strasmore's ex and all he had to do was talk to her to resolve it...... really. The created lots of interesting story-lines only to just disappoint in the end. The Rock was great though, Rob Corddry did a good job, he was funny. Troy Garity and Dulé Hill also did a good job and fit their roles well. This show has potential to be really great. The writers just need to amp up the drama with some surprises and don't let a situation hang around for three episodes if the resolution is going to be simple.
