Brilliant and touching
... View MoreI have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
... View MoreIt’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
... View MoreVery good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
... View MoreThis is the best show ever. I love it so much. I really don't like SS1 of the film because of the way the characters were drawn. It's just so childish and the story is so childish, too. But when I saw SS2 of the film, I watch it everyday, I can't stop watching, I fell in love with AmDrag since then. It's not just like other cartoons. It has action, romantic love, family, friends, things around us. The show taught us a lot of things, and really is a meaning show. Most of SS2 eps make me cry when I see the love between Jake - Lao Shi (Grandson - grandfather), Jake - Haley (siblings), Jake - his father, Jake - Rose (love) and Jake - Trix, Spud (friends). I save watched a lot of cartoons series, but only this show makes me cry, I am really attracted, the film makes me feel, think. This's not a show for kids only, the story of the film attracts adults. It's the only cartoon series has many fans who are more than 50. But Disney canceled the film, Disney ruined themself by canceling the best film ever. I love them more than anything else, I don't know if I can do something to bring it back, but if I know. I will do anything to save it. Let's show Disney that's they're all wrong to cancel a show like this.
... View MoreI love this show! Disney Channel is all well and good, but it's family shows about a sixteen-year old, terrible animated flicks that I'm embarrassed to watch, and not much else. ADJL rocks! Sure, it's got silly jokes, stereotypes, and too much fake slang, but what show doesn't have at least one of those? I'm just grateful that this show is still there, after the short-lived W.I.T.C.H. that I adored. The plot is about a teenage Asian-American boy in NYC who can turn into a Dragon. He is taught about his powers by wise old grandpa also a dragon and Fu-Dog, a 6,000 year-old talking dog who whips up potions and bad puns. Jake battles evil monsters and fights the 'Huntsclan,' a group of secret ninja-type people with cool staffs that spew green energy stuff and hunt magical creatures. The Huntsgirl, the Huntsmaster's assistant, Jake's arch nemesis who wants to slay him and become a full-blown Huntsclan member, is actually Rose, the pretty girl at school who Jake has a crush on. Rose/Huntsgirl has a dragon birthmark/tattoo on her hand whose tail winds around her arm, which I think is really cool. I knew that Rose was the Huntsgirl even before I saw the first episode, as I go to Disney Channel.com and check out the video clips and pictures. How many blonds with blue eyes with similar voices are hanging around? If they weren't the same person, the animators would have given them different hair or something. The fact that Jake didn't realize that is just weird, but it's a TV show. At the end of the first season, Jake and Rose have discovered the other's secret identity, and Rose disappears, much to Jake's sorrow. Second season, which just started, picks up a few months after season 1 ended, and there's new animation. I have mixed feelings about the new animation: change is good, and I like how Jake changes into an Asian dragon instead of a European dragon, like before, but the Oracle twins are now fraternal: Sarah is in a is blond in a pink dress and Carra has black hair and is goth, while before they were both red-heads who looked similar. The huge change, in my book, is the Huntsclan uniforms. Before they were dark-green and black armor things that blended into the shadows, but now they're black and maroon things with a red spider symbol on the masks, which makes them stand out. They look stupid and weird. The staff-weapon things with the green energy stuff are more advanced but not so ancient looking. They're more like tridents with some intricate carvings, not so good. I know, I know, I love the Huntsclan too much, but I'm the kind of person who loves Slytherin. All in all, I love this TV show. Sure it has its faults, but it's as close to perfect as you can get with the idea and Disney. Magic and the real world is a great element, and to have it on Disney is wonderful for a fantasy geek like me. Hey, I play D&D, so ADJL is big. Watch it, and see what you think.
... View MoreI disagree with a previous comment about this show. Yes, it is an anime wannabe, but maybe that's why it's sort of good. Instead of a plot less cartoon with nothing changing from episode to episode, there is character development and real confrontations. Now, this isn't the best show out there (I HATE the new animation style) but it's not complete crap. Jake Long is a little stupid & yes cocky, but that's good. How many main characters are completely caring & try to do their best? It's good to have a character who every now and then acts like a real kid. Children, I think, can relate to giving up something they want to do so, that they can be responsible. This show teaches without preaching. And yes, Trixie is VERY stereotypical. But I think the point is to try to show diversity - instead of a weak, token "girl", (& token black character) who is only there to show how "nagging" girls can be, Trixie is strong and intelligent- in other ways. She may not know "big words" but she understands the power of friendship & loyalty. She's in-your-face & sometimes just what Jake needs. What drew my attention was the difference in the characters and even the plot. You have to excuse the "fad" of trying to be something else (ie: Japanese) and see it for what it is.I'll get off my soap box now, I just wanted to defend this average show against a horrible comment. (You thought Ren & Stimpy was good? Yuck! I bet you like the stupidity of Spongebob too!)
... View MoreThis show does not have particularly overdrawn characters. I am a girl who loves this show and does't get to watch it enough, although there are some faults. The plot lines are a bit wishy- washy and sometimes lopsided. There should be a bit more mystery within this mythical world and the only thing that is mysterious is the huntsman and the secret identity of Rose, (by the way has that been revealed yet? I think she'll be the hunts girl ). The ideas are really good, maybe a little more editing, but the overall idea itself is great. I mean, compared to demonic Yu Gi Oh this show provides a screening of beasts not seen by kids, unless they are all reading Greek and Roman Mythology which I highly doubt, (Some do, I know and I have read all the Greek and Roman mythology and I'm 12), so they are even getting a bit of culture. Sure, Danny Phantom did it better, but is he still on the air? No, and like many timeless classic TV series, they are replaced by copies for the younger generation. Jake Long is a great show and I think it is fine.
