It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

This flash animation was hilarious to watch.Like the other flash animated shorts done by Bruno Bozzetto, this is something direct and simple, with a minimalistic visual style (The cars are merely rectangles, while people is represented by dots) However, all the jokes were effective and clever, showing in a humorous way how respecting the road rules sometimes could be more dangerous than breaking them. For those who liked "Yes & No ", I would also recommend the animated short from the year 2005 "Not There Yet", which had a somewhat similar visual style and equally sarcastic sense of humor.

Well what can be said about this little animation short? This is quite short and to the point, as well as being quite funny. It is funny because it is actually true. It does not matter how well you drive, you are still likely to encounter problems with other road users. This would probably explain why minimal third party car insurance is compulsory in the UK, I'm not sure what the law says about this in Italy but I would imagine it would be something similar. Even more-so with the European Union in force. I have never been to Italy before, but it seems they have the same trouble with drivers as we do in the UK.This film should not be taken as an invitation to drive however bad as you may wish to. It is a comedy which is not to be taken seriously. It is only there to mock the way everyone drives on the road. The only way to avoid all such problems would be to stop driving altogether but I don't believe we need to go that far.

The animation for this short film is not great--there are lots of geometric shapes that are supposed to be people and cars. However, despite its limitations, there is a cleverness about the film that makes you laugh. The film purports to be a safe driving lesson--first showing you what not to do and second, showing what you should do. However, the second "better" solution is always much worse in the long run--causing much mayhem. My favorite is the one with the dog--but I'll say no more.I have used this short occasionally in the past when I was a school teacher. If we had about 4 or 5 minutes left to go at the end of class, I'd show it to the high school kids--telling them it's "an important safe driving video"--and wait to see them laugh at the crazy antics of this Bozzetto short. Highly recommended--plus, since it's only 4 minutes long, you can't go too wrong.
