The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

WITCHCRAFT IV: THE VIRGIN HEART is the worst WITCHCRAFT film yet, and all four have been pretty bad. This sees Charles Solomon Jr., the main actor from the last two films in the series, coming back for a final time essaying the role of the good-guy warlock facing up to the forces of evil. This effort tries to tell some sort of politically-tinged tale but the budget is far too low to convince with any of the court house scenes. The emphasis of the story is on rock music so there's lots of the expected padding and little in the actual way of story telling. Once again the devil is getting folk to sell their souls to him and only our hero can stop him.The most notable thing about THE VIRGIN HEART is the willingness of starlet Julie Strain to show off her bare body, which she does on regular occasions playing a devilish stripper character. While Solomon Jr. would thankfully quit the series after this instalment, unfortunately it would continue to run and run without him.

This terrible movie series - that in the meantime has reached number twelwe, I don't understand why - reaches really the bottoms with this fourth entry, starring again warlock-lawyer Will Spanner against none other than the devil in a convoluted, bad lightened, worse acted sort of Mississipi Adventure gone wrong, with its story of bluesmen and pacts with the Lord of the Flies. More a mystery than a real horror movie - but it is really bad both ways you see it - this movie has the only reason to be watched in the presence of Julie Strain as stripper-singer extraordinaire Belladonna, that shows her bare and best assets, her wonderful breasts, but even she is totally wasted in the abomination that this movie is. Don't bother to rent nor to buy.

Witchcraft IV is more of a murder mystery drama than a horror film; the horror element is not very well done. There is a murder at the beginning, the accused, a defense lawyer and police, but the focus shifts away from the accused and onto, err, the supernatural element. Some nice scenes of Julie Strain, but her character is not very compelling. Nothing really interesting happens until the climax, but this leaves something to be desired too. Mediocre fare.

This is probably the best film in this series, but hey that isn't saying very much. Everything that made the previous efforts bad, remains intact in this awful film. Bad acting, direction, especially the so-called special effects, and script. There is more sex in this entry and some of the girls are good looking. This film is mildly entertaining in a so-bad, it is good way. If you haven't seen any of the films in this series, don't waste your time. There all awful, despite some neat looking tape boxes. 3.5 out of 10.
