I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

... View MoreThe story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
... View MoreTrue to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
... View MoreI saw this little cartoon film as an extra on a DVD of Buster Keaton's Three Ages, although why exactly it was included - other than the caveman theme - escapes me. It was shown without any musical accompaniment, meaning that the experience was completely silent, which didn't really help the film much. The film is made in the same silhouette style as the films of Lotte Reiniger although with more detail and movement of the characters. The movement and expressions of the characters - both human and animal - are quite imaginatively drawn, but the story itself doesn't really make a lot of sense. Worth a look as a curiosity as it isn't without a certain charm, but nothing particularly special.
