The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

1st Match: Diamond Dallas Page vs Johnny B. Badd, WCW World TV Championship. A slow match to start the show. There's no real magic here, the match just moves from one scene to another with nothing really exciting happening in between. There's a high spot near the end, but it's too little too late. This is as middle of the road as a match can get. Rating: 2.5/5 2nd Match: Zodiac vs Randy Savage. It took me longer to write this than the match itself. A fan runs in and lengthens the match by 45 seconds, making the whole runtime 90 seconds. That was pointless. Rating: None.3rd Match: Hawk vs Kurasawa. Again, it took me longer to write this than the length of the match. Rating: None.4th Match: Sabu vs Jerry Lynn. This is just a 3 minute spotfest, but it's a masterpiece compared to the first 3 matches. Rating: 3.5/5 5th Match: Lex Luger vs Meng. A slow, plodding, 13 minute match that ends in a DQ that doesn't even make sense. People paid their hard-earned money for tickets here. That's pretty sad. Rating: 1/5 6th Match: Brian Pillman and Arn Anderson vs Ric Flair and Sting. Flair doesn't come out right away, so the whole match is Sting on defense until Flair shows up livid as hell. The rest of the match is waiting for Flair to get the tag, and when he does, he turns on Sting. I genuinely didn't see that coming, in hindsight I should've, but I honestly didn't. I'd give them some bonus points here for the surprise, but watching an almost 20 minute match of a guy playing defense only for a double cross is still pretty lame. Some good drama here though, I'll give it that. Rating: 2.5/5 7th Match: Hulk Hogan vs Big Show, Monster Truck Sumo match. I know his name's "The Giant" here, but I've been calling him Big Show for 11 years, so I'm calling him Big Show here. The match is meh, no real drama, and I'm guessing it was only here to capitalize on the Monster Truck craze at the time. Big Show falls off the roof though, thus ending his life, and he'll never be seen again. I don't know how to rate this, and beings they never did this again, there's nothing to compare it to, so it doesn't get a rating. Rating: None.8th Match: Lex Luger vs Randy Savage. Big Show's still dead, so here's a 5 minute match while the commentators talk about nothing but what happened before it. Nothing special, just here to fill time. Rating: 2/5 9th Match: Hulk Hogan vs Big Show, WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Turns out Big Show survived his 50 foot fall, managed to change into his wrestling gear, and now we have a main event. What an amazing coincidence. The match is just a typical Hogan match until Jimmy Hart comes in with the ultimate betrayal and joins the Dungeon of Doom. Again, didn't see that coming, but there's nothing interesting to keep you invested. Also The Yeti comes out and gives a double bear hug to Hogan for the DQ ending. Only it's not a Yeti, it's a freakin' mummy!!!! Rating: 2/5 Final Rating: 3 out of 10. Another contender for Worst PPV of 1995, from a company that I'm surprised can even spell it's name correctly at this point. The best match of this show is a 3 minute spotfest, let that sink in for just a minute. The best match, on a 3 hour show, is 3 minutes long. If you're wondering why the rating for this isn't lower, it's because to show is so bad, it actually made me laugh at how ridiculous it was at times.

Live from Detroit, MIAttendance 13,000Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Bobby HeenanPrior to the broadcast, Ric Flair was ambushed by Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman. Television TitleDiamond Dallas Paige (C) (W/The Diamond Doll & Max Muscle) Vs Johnny B BaddBadd uses a decoy on the stage ramp while Badd comes out through the crowd and surprises DDP from behind. Badd wins the Television Title after a heel miscommunication between DDP and Max Muscle. Started off slowly, but that changed once Badd took over on offense. It went from a relatively mundane affair to an exciting match. DDP was steadily improving at this juncture, but he was still somewhat unproven. Overall, a solid opener***1/4"Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs The ZodiacThe Zodiac is Brutus Beefcake in stupid looking face paint. If Savage wins this match and Luger beats Sting later in the night, Savage and Luger will wrestle each other on the same night as well. An overzealous fan runs inside the ring and goes after Savage, but Savage hilariously no-sells him. Savage wins in very quick fashion with the flying elbow drop. I love it when something I'm dreading ends up being really short. DUDRoad Warrior Hawk Vs Kurasawa (W/Col. Parker)This all started when Kurasawa broke Hawk's arm at a Clash of The Champions PPV. Kurasawa wins with help from Col. Parker. For someone who got his arm broken, Hawk sure is subdued. Hawk seemed to be going through the motions and disinterested. 3/4*Randy Savage says he'll make sure Lex Luger wins tonight and that Hulk Hogan is his friend, but if they meet in the squared circle, Savage will win. I'm not gonna spoil everything, but its classic Macho Man. Savage and Okerlund have a fun exchange as well. J.L. Vs Sabu (W/The Original Sheik)Sabu wins. This was nothing but a spotfest. The crowd was dead throughout the match and I can't say I really blame them. It was obvious that not much thought was put behind it. There were some big spots, but not a lot of excitement, if that makes sense.*1/2Meng (W/The Taskmaster) Vs Lex LugerLuger wins by DQ after interference from Kevin Sullivan, which means Luger faces Savage later tonight. This match put me and the people to sleep. It's honestly one of the most boring matches I've ever seen in all my years of wrestling. Literally, NOTHING interesting happens. The intrigue of whether Luger is secretly in cahoots with The Dungeon of Doom is the story here. By the time this match is over, you won't care.DUDArn Anderson & Brian Pillman Vs Sting & Ric FlairRic Flair is too injured to be Sting's partner, making it a handicapped match. Flair eventually runs down to even the odds. Sting tags in Flair, but Flair TURNS ON STING! It turns out, the entire Flair Vs Arn Anderson storyline was a setup. Flair, Pillman, and Anderson demolish Sting. I have mixed feelings about this. I really feel turning Flair heel was unnecessary. The we want Flair chants were deafening and he was way over. It also doesn't make much sense, considering all the beatings Flair took from Anderson and Pillman. The match itself had great atmosphere, but the ending makes it hard to rate. *3/4It's time for the Monster truck battle between Hulk Hogan and The Giant. They are locked up, bumper to bumper in a big circle on a roof. It's kinda like a sumo match with trucks. After a very boring monster truck battle, both men get out of their monster trucks and start fighting on the roof. The Giant ends up teetering and falling off the roof, into the river. The Giant going into the river isn't actually shown, of course. The announcers are despondent. This was edgy for the time, but it doesn't hold up very well at all. Lex Luger Vs Randy SavageSavage is definitely the crowd favorite here. Jimmy Hart comes wandering down to ringside. Savage wins with the flying elbow drop. It was hard to take this match seriously when the announcers were constantly talking about The Giant. It was fun to see Luger booed, though. Luger acted like a total heel in this match, even putting his feet on the ropes. *1/2WCW Heavyweight ChampionshipHulk Hogan (C) (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs The Giant (W/The Taskmaster)Just a few bumps and bruises for The Giant, who had fallen 500 feet off the roof. The Giant has miraculously come back from the dead! The Giant wins by disqualification. Oh, boy! I'll try to explain this best I can. Hogan hits him with a legdrop, but Jimmy Hart nails the referee to cause the DQ. Jimmy Hart turns heel on Hogan by nailing Hogan with the WCW title. The Yeti (A big looking Mummy) comes down and attacks Hogan as well. Savage and Luger come down to help out Hogan, but Luger turns heel as well, attacking Savage and Hogan. Both Luger and Jimmy Hart have joined The Dungeon of Doom. *Thoughts: The match was a complete snoozefest for the most part. They tried to hard to recreate Hogan vs Andre here and it didn't work. They even did the bodyslam spot from Wrestlemania III by having Hogan slam The Giant. Hogan's ego was at work again, making The Giant look weak near the end. Jimmy Hart and Lex Luger are natural scumbags and work best as heels. The way they did it was shoddy, but it was the right choice. Three heel turns in one night is a bit much, though. The Dungeon of Doom storyline is a total clusterfuc*****
