... View MoreThis movie adaptation was hilariously funny, a perfect rom-com. It's got battle, wits, and the viewer can totally relate with the main character. The ending could've had a time skip, but other than that, it's a little movie that will warm your heart up and leave you thinking about the movie. The actors portray their roles so well, it's perfect. The rivalry between the two gangs is extremely entertaining and well written, this is a spectacular movie about a love, friendship and enemy relationship. One of the best movies I've seen so far, it does not let down the reputation of the original 'War of the buttons' and I am sure it will truly make your day after watching the movie :)
... View MoreIn the countryside of France, two groups of boys from the rural villages of Longeverne and Velran are in constant war against each other. Their war is a tradition that passes from father to son and without a motive but the rivalry between the peasants.During the Algerian War, the Longeverne boys are led by the intelligent William Lebrac (Vincent Bres), who has been the backer of his family since his father died, while the Velrans are led by the wicked Aztec (Théo Bertrand). The boys are frequently fighting with their wooden swords, throwing rotten fruits or building traps in the woods expecting to remove the buttons from the enemies' clothes. But Lebrac is coming of age and he has a crush on the girl Lanterne (Salomé Lemire) while his teacher Merlin (Eric Elmosnino) offers the chance for him to have a better study in another village."La Guerre des Boutons" is a delightful French movie with a beautiful metaphor against the wars. The story of tradition, loyalty, friendship, courage, betrayal and first love can be understood in different levels and brings high values for either of them; therefore it is appropriate for families that will be certainly satisfied with the adventures of the Longeverne and Velran boys. The actors and actresses deserve a special reference with surprisingly great performances. I believe that any viewer will "fall in love" with the little Tigibus; Lanterne; Lebrac; and even with the villain Aztec. The dispute between the teachers Merlin and Labru is also very funny. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "A Guerra dos Botões" ("The War of the Buttons")
