War of the Birds Trailers

Fagin is the bad bird of an otherwise idyllic forest. He assaults the nest of two wrens and destroys all their eggs except one that, when hatched, is adopted by an owl (patterned on W. C. Fields). A counter-offensive against Fagin is launched with help enlisted from a seagull named Armstrong, two nice mice and a sparrow. There is romance, too, and a jazzy score goes with this animated ornithology extravaganza.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

A timeless children's classic - with its unique water-color style Jannik Hastrup has created a true masterpiece of Danish animation. Once again he has given full justice to one of Bent Haller's wonderful books. The voice acting, especially Tommy Kenter and Claus Ryskjær, and the music by Fuzzy, Jacob Groth, and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen represent the best of its time.The movie handles themes that lie just beyond the grasp of children, such as love, parenting, war, drinking, and growing up, in a powerful yet very gentle way. It has many moments that will never be forgotten and the characters will stay in children's hearts forever.

Even if I am a fan of extreme violent and weird flicks, this one was really refreshing. Title means Bird War , I think, and even if it can be taken for a childrens film, it worked ok on me.Its an animation on birds mostly. The voices are really nice and funny. And of course I have to mention the hillarious mice! Without these, I might not have like this so much.

This is definitely animator Hastrup´s best film. A compelling and funny story of orphan bird Oliver, who along with girlfriend Olivia and a couple of mice (Frederik and Ingolf of the Cirkeline cartoons) battles evil hawk Fagin. Despite the names, film has little to do with Dickens´ novel, but that doesn´t matter, because the film is great on its own terms. Tommy Kenter´s owl is unmistakably inspired by W.C. Fields, and as usual, Hastrup´s voice casting is excellent.
