I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

A modern day implementation of a similar concept, "Originally Inspired" from the aforementioned movie title with a big plot twist; the gender based roles are switched. This time around, the role of the reporter is played by the female protagonist and the spoiled brat is played by the male protagonist. Now isn't that originality?

I recently got an opportunity to watch this movie on a DVD and I was not disappointed. This movie connects with you immediately because of its very realistic script and could relate to the movie immediately. Ayan Mukherjee's effort in movie making is worth mentioning, He has a very simplistic yet unique way of story telling and helps us connect to the characters within a flash. His the Dil Chahta hai esque style of movie making fascinates! The cast is very well chosen as they suit the bill perfectly. Ranbir has done a great job depicting Sid. But you come out of the movie with Konkana playing with your mind. She is very refreshing and yet again proves she is one of the finest actors in India. Supriya Pathak plays her part to perfection. The music of the movie is worth mentioning.Iktara is the song you'd be humming for the next couple of days! Don't miss it ! Worth having a DVD watch!

Movie looks confused, so does the protagonist of the movie 'Sid', first half is still watchable, but second half is just waste. The movie tries to deal with the easy going high society brats, but ends up being just another movie, people who are rating this movie high, are keeping the base as other pathetic melo-drama's, but let me tell you, this movie is not raising the bar whatsoever, neither in acting nor in directing. Movie concept does have little potential, if it was made with clearer mind, it could have done justice to the plot.Rating of 7.5 on IMDb, seems too much to me, its like comparing it with likes of The Illusionist, The Aviator, which i seem is insult of other two movies. So, in my regard, people with international taste buds, should consider it as 6.0.

Bollywood has traditionally been known for providing cinema with "screen play of convenience",poorly drafted or half baked stories & senseless drams. Now how is this movie different from the rest- 1.The treatment is pretty novel.2.There are no plastic emotions here, every thing seems pretty much connected with our daily lives. This thing deserves a special mention as this movie comes from the banner of Karan Johar, the man known for his glossy films with synthetic/plastic emotions. So,he deserves special brownie points for undertaking such a project.3.The feel fresh approach and the pace at which the film moves is the high light of the film. The acting is top notch.Ranbir,Konkana,Supriya Pathak & Anupam Kher all perform exceptionally well. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is situational and strikes a chord with the viewer. The title song and Iktara(composed by Amit Trivedi) stand out.The back ground score also deserves a special mention. The cinematography is soothing to the eyes and the direction is superb. The scenes like the Ranbir's spat with his parents,or when Ranbir & Konkana spend a night gazing at the stars or even when Ranbir meets his father in his office are handled with utmost sincerity and maturity. The romantic aspect or the bonding between Konkana & Ranbir is very genuine and heart warming.Bollywood, through films like these ,is taking giant strides towards excellence.Well done Ayan Mukherji & Karan Johar.....Final verdict-9/10
