V/H/S/2 Trailers

Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.

Taraparain

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The first "V/H/S" was the DEFINITION of a mixed bag. Some of the acting was fantastic, but some of it was terrible. Some of the shorts were brilliant and terrifying, but others were insulting and laughable. The atmosphere was nightmarish, but the characters were obnoxiously unlikable. I really hope that those disappointed by the first "V/H/S" film can find it in their hearts to give "V/H/S 2" a shot cause, as it turns out, it's not only vastly superior to the original film, but one Hell of a horror movie on its own merits. As an anthology flick, I'll be analyzing each of the shorts on their own.Phase #1: Clinical Trials~The admitted weakest of all the shorts, but still not bad. This one suffers from some VERY blatant plot holes (If Herman's artificial eye only allows him to see ghosts in his house, why is there a "scary noise" whenever they show up on screen?), but the jump scares, fairly cheap as they are, DO work and director Adam Wingard proves himself to be a solid actor. This short also boasts some impressive gore effects and gives a genius reason for why the camera is always rolling. 6/10 A Ride In The Park~So good that it's a shame it's not feature length. The zombies themselves are terrifying in both speech and appearance, the premise is creative, the gore effects are outstanding and used effectively, and the short gets in a surprisingly heavy emotional punch near the end. And must say, never thought I'd see a zombie film where the zombie has character development. 9/10Safe Haven~Definitely the most creative (And the most violent) of the shorts. The story is surprisingly complex for its runtime, the acting is incredibly realistic, the characters are likable, the wickedly dark comedy hits hard (Especially the ending), and the film does an excellent job using its unpredictability to shock and horrify you. This one also boasts the best creature effects of all the shorts. 8/10Slumber Party Alien Abduction~Saving the best for last. Many found footage films have attempted tackling the "alien abduction" sub- genre to varying degrees of success, but "V/H/S 2" does in less than 15 minutes what none of them accomplished at feature length. The acting is fantastic, the characters are likable, the effects are outstanding, the pacing is perfect and above all, it's scary. REALLY scary. The film shifts from casual home movie to nightmarish escape from malevolent aliens seamlessly, using its more lighthearted, "fun" tone as a disguise for what becomes arguably the most suspenseful and intense of the shorts (Something helped by the fact it is preceded by the darkest short in the movie) There is not a single moment in the entire short that is not entertaining, and it's proof that the alien abduction found footage sub-genre can do SO much better. 10/10Frame Narrative~Words cannot express how grateful I am that the characters are actually LIKABLE in this installment, not to mention very well acted. True, Larry and Ayesha have the chaotic, "rules are made to be broken" attitude to them that the characters in the first movie had, but they're still essentially good people, and their love for breaking the rules and generally pissing off people they don't particularly like comes off here as more of a "rogueish charm" that just makes them even MORE likable. The reasoning behind the collector's possession of the tapes is much more fascinating this time around, and the frame narrative contains some very subtle but truly horrifying visual scares. The 2 ending plot twists are brilliant, even if the final scare is something of a disappointment. 9/10 "V/H/S 2" is the perfect found footage movie for any adrenaline junkie, gore hound tired of the genre's relatively bloodless entries. That said, there is still much to love for fans who like their horror more subtle and suspenseful. Simply put, it's very diverse in the different ways it scares its audience. Scary, funny, well acted and with surprisingly likable characters "V/H/S 2" makes its mark as the undisputed pinnacle of the trilogy and definitely one of the better found footage films.

As I mentioned in my review of "The Bay," found footage is my favourite sub-genre of horror, and the smartphone boom has made it all the more prevalent (so thanks, smartphones-- I guess you're not completely evil after all.) Found footage gives a delicate feel of authenticity which can be broken if the actors are too self-aware (like they were in "The Bay.") "VHS2" is much more competently made, however, and offers genuine scares and fun.All of the featured "tapes" tell strong stories-- from the man with the magic eyeball to the zombie falling from his bicycle, not one story disappoints. The "Slumber Party" episode felt weakest, given the rubbery looking suits and all (and, personally, I was hoping the creatures would eat the dog) but I had some real fun watching this movie anyway.Eight out of ten equals "recommend."

V/H/S/ 2 is a modern-day horror anthology featuring eclectic talent from the directors of THE RAID and YOU'RE NEXT amongst others. As with many modern horror anthologies, the emphasis is on outright blood and gore over scares, although there are attempts here to frighten as well as repulse the viewer. There are four tales in all, as well as a mildly diverting wraparound story involving a creepy old house and a VHS collection. Most of the material is shot POV style, which I enjoyed as a fan of the 'found footage' genre. The first tale is a simple riff on THE EYE, as a guy gets a new-fangled optic implant that restores his sight but has the unwanted side effect of allowing him to see spirits at the same time. I love the introduction of the deaf girl with her own twist and this is by far the scariest of the film, with some really jumpy moments. It's all predictable, but that's okay. The second tale is about a cyclist with a Go Pro camera mounted on his helmet. His trip through the woods is interrupted by a zombie attack, and what we get here is unending gore and bloodshed, some of the most gruesome you'll see. It's all pretty distasteful actually, and more than a little pointless. The third story is the Indonesian one, contributed by THE RAID director Gareth Evans; as a huge fan of his films, it was the one I was most looking forward to. Evans doesn't disappoint; this is as intense as his action films, and the madcap plot line involves a doomsday cult and the birth of the Antichrist. It's exceptionally gory, delightfully obscure, and without a doubt the highlight of the whole thing. The fourth and final story is weak by comparison. It tells of an attack by extraterrestrials on a group of redneck characters, who are all really dumb, but there's way too much of the shaky cam here and little real meat to the storyline. The dog is the most interesting character and you can guess what happens to that. V/H/S/ 2 isn't bad at all for fans of gory horror, but aside from the Indonesian segment it's all rather familiar.

I liked the film and I found it to be okay and I liked the wrap around in this film more than the one in the first film,I guess I just found this story more interesting it was about two private investigators that are looking for a boy that went missing. The investigators break into his house and find his collection of V/H/S Tapes and they start to watch them. Unlike the first film this one actually made more sense and the stories were better also the characters were better and more likable. Story one was about a man who was having this operation and they put a camera in his eye. I thought the idea of the camera in his eye was interesting but the story was a bit lacking. He goes home and we find out his house is haunted by ghosts but he thinks the eye is making him see these ghosts but it was not because the ghosts were real. The man meets this women they become friends and she tells him the ghosts are real then they work together to try and get rid of the ghosts.Story 2 I liked I thought it was entertaining it was about a man who was a bicycle rider and he rides around in the woods and he encounters a women who was bitten by a zombie, unaware of this he tries to help her and she ends up biting him turning him into a zombie but not before he kills her.a group of others zombies chase after him and the man ends up turning into a zombie from his bite wound and the rest of the story is about all these zombies running around causing mayhem and destruction trying to infect as many people as possible. This short story was one of my favourites and it was entertaining and there were some really good make up effects as well as blood and Gore in this story. Story 3 I liked okay it was a very insane story about a A news crew that infiltrates an Indonesian cult and I must say this story was very bloody and gory and bizarre and people that like bizarre stories will love this one,I found the story entertaining but I did not love it,however I have to give the story a thumbs up for originality it was something different that I'd never seen before, the story has a lot of creepy images in it along with weird creatures. The cultists in this story begin a mass suicide and chaos ensues, the news crew get attacked and they try to escape from the building.I don't want to give away too much but I will say the dark bloody building they were in reminded me of scene in A film called (Jacobs ladder).the hospital scene in that film was just as bizarre as this story. This 3rd story was insane and effectively creepy I have to be honest and admit that, also the story had good make up effects and the creature looked cool.Story 4 would probably be my favourite one it was called (Slumber party Alien Abduction). The story was interesting it was about these kids who put a camera on their dog to create videos.after their parents leave the kids invite some friends over to have some fun. Later their older sisters boyfriend comes over to see her and the kids play pranks on both of them. The laughs soon stop when the kids start to hear loud noises outside, they go downstairs and they soon realise something dangerous is outside and then they see Aliens break into their house and the kids get abducted one by one. The older sister and her brothers run for it and try to escape but they can't see in the dark so they try and hide but everywhere they go the Aliens seem to find them. Whenever the Aliens show up they are shrouded in bright flickering light and I liked the effect. The alien effects also looked good and I liked the way they moved I thought they were creepy looking.I found this last Alien Abduction story fast moving and very intense! especially toward the end when the kids run for it again. After story 4 we get the end Wrap around story with the two investigators which I liked. I have to say the end wrap around here was much better than the one in the first film.I found this Ending wrap around Creepy also I liked the idea of the end wrap around story,it was a good idea they had but I won't give it away instead just watch the film and see it for yourselves. V/H/S 2 was an okay Film with some interesting stories.
