The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

Neil (Danny Masterson) is an arrogant business man who is very rich and very nice to his inner circle of friends which includes his playboy uninhibited brother Jason (Justin Chatwin). His entourage includes women who are all 10's except for "Droid" who Neil considers to be an "aging 6 or 6 1/2". (Ashley Greene). They vacation on Eastman Island where they go to an erotic club known as "Volcano." Here Pierce Brosnan meets Jason and introduces him to a drug known as "Urge." There is only one rule: only do the drug once. The drug induces a state of uninhibited euphoria...the second use...and we all see this coming, people act on all their urges or impulses. This film reminded me of the 1984 Meg Tilly film "Impulse" which I thought was a bit more entertaining.Jason is seemingly unaffected by the drug as an anomaly because he is already uninhibited.Guide: F-word, sex, nudity Not exacting an immortalizing role Pierce Brosnan.

Below contains spoilers about the overall theme (not about the plot). The theme is that people are naturally evil, and the only thing that makes them act nicely are inhibitions imposed by society norms. It is not a new philosophical idea. It references the "Ring of Gyges" myth, and the "Original Sin" concept of Christianity.First, I disagree that people are naturally sinful. A person is born "tabula rasa", neither good nor evil, and he becomes good or evil based on his understanding (or misunderstanding) of reality.Second, the people in the movie begin to act in crazy (and often evil) ways not because they are losing their inhibitions, but because they stop thinking rationally. They start to act solely on a whim, following blindly whatever crazy idea that pops into their head. Ayn Rand has called this "whim worship". Quote:"What does it mean, to act on whim? It means that a man acts like a zombie, without any knowledge of what he deals with, what he wants to accomplish, or what motivates him. It means that a man acts in a state of temporary insanity. Is this what you call juicy or colorful? I think the only juice that can come out of such a situation is blood. To act against the facts of reality can result only in destruction." — Ayn Rand (Playboy interview)And these are exactly the effects portrayed in the movie. But, the movie gets wrong the cause of these effects. It is not removal of the inhibitions, but it is the stopping of rational thinking that causes people to act crazy.

A weekend getaway takes a dangerous turn when a mysterious nightclub owner (Pierce Brosnan) introduces a group of friends to a new designer drug. Stripped of their inhibitions, they start living out their wildest fantasies - but what starts out as a fun night of partying quickly turns deadly, as the island paradise deteriorates into a tropical madhouse. URGE also stars Justin Chatwin, Ashley Greene, Alexis Knapp, Bar Paly, Chris Geere, Nick Thune, Tommy Yoo, and Danny Masterson. This film was meant to fail since day one since it stars Drangonball: Evolution star Justin Chatwin an actor that just can't act, Pierce Brosnan is barely in the film and he has this creepy laugh and i thought that Ashley Greene was going to be the saving grace of this film but honestly everyone was dull.

I can't help to wonder if the guy who got the money to do the movie was too excited because he got way more than he expected. It's like a kid who got the permission to grab all the toy he wants from the toy store.I want sex scenes ! An expensive location ! A sultry party in a night club ! Pierce Brosnan ! I want to send a strong message about our society ! I want to make a god allegory ! I want a lot of gory scenes ! I want to try this effect with the camera lens over and over !There was a lot of nice ideas thrown in the making of this movie.Unfortunately, the storytelling got lost in translation.
