Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

Blistering performances.

"UNDER THE CHINESE RESTAURANT" is a delightful live-action feature by the creator of the mostly-animated ALLEGRO NON TROPPO, Bruno Bozzetto. It is about Ivan (Claudio Botosso), a robbery witness, who takes cover in the basement of a Chinese restaurant where he is transported through a mysterious door to an exotic beach in a distant land with brilliant twin suns! This surrealistic world has strange creatures and beautiful native girl Eva (Amanda Sandrelli), her bizarre father (Bernard Blier), an eccentric inventor. Eva falls in love with Ivan and the adventures multiply and transform Ivan's life. This is a fun-filled romantic comedy in a whimsical land of fantasy.
