I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

This is one of Italy's favorite Toto films, and includes many of the scenes most widely reproduced in pictures and posters. When I was living in Rome in 2006, I asked a local video rental store owner for a recommendation, and this was his first choice. The scams attempted by Toto and his partner are brilliant, rivaling the best material of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in their "On the Road to..." films. Not to be missed are the scenes of early '60's Italian girls dancing to an American Rock'n'Roll idol: priceless! The 10 rating is, of course, for people with a real appreciation of Toto and Italian culture. People who can't stand subtitles or do not appreciate foreign films in general might well laugh themselves silly anyway, but they would have to abandon their prejudice.
