Though he began in stand-up comedy, Andre Allen hit the big-time as the star of a trilogy of action-comedies about a talking bear but now he wants to be taken seriously. His passion project about the Haitian Revolution, a movie called Uprize, was panned by the NY Times film critic. A couple days before the wedding to his reality star fiancée, he's forced to spend the day with Chelsea Brown, a profile writer for the New York Times. Unexpectedly, he opens up to her, and as they wind their way across New York, he tries to get back in touch with his comedic roots.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

Top FiveChris Rock's hints of amusing perspective towards the details of the world is present in each of its character and is also the reason why Top Five is one of those rare features that has a unique concept, edgy characters, funny dialogues and a twisted love story.

In short, it was the worst comedy I watched within last three years. Now, to be honest, I am not a native speaker (as you can easily guess reading this review), so I watched it in Polish, so it could be that indeed in original there were some funny bits. It may be also that there is, as some people say, chemistry in original. But it was all lost in the translation. It all feel fake, terribly boring, with few bits thrown it to justify calling this... thing... a comedy. But I do not think it all can be blamed on translation. I've watched dozens of French, English, Russian, Czech and even Chinese comedies and I laughed. Here... I just kept looking at the watch to see how much it is left.Awful. Toxic. Avoid it.

This movie is actually very good....Chris Rock is epic at delivering his one-liner's through out this as though he's in standup mode, it's well shot, its funny and has a hint of NYC-esque Woody Allen moments throughout...It deals well with reality TV crap behind the scenes and has epic cameo's from Jerry Seinfeld to Tracy Morgan, some references will get lost on you if you don't have a basic understanding of African American history and Hip Hop but I can honestly say Chris Rock is very good as is most of the cast...Haters gonna hate but then check how many other negative reviews they do....I bought this on DVD...!More of these I say...:)

I love this movie (all the reasons in the title) & it's refreshing to see another great serious film /acting from a comedian, it actually contradicts what even Chris Rock said himself"People want comedians to be funny. I mean I love Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) but it ain't a better performance than in Dumb & Dumber (1994). I can do serious roles sometimes in other people's movies but not in one of my own. I don't wanna ask my fans to come and not laugh at me: 'Hey! Come on, let's go see Chris Rock not be funny!' "*KUDOS to C Rock debut as director, waiting for the next one !!! (& by the way JCarrey in ESofSM is just amazing, hate dumb & dumber)*source: IMDb
