It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

I recently noticed a broad addition of korean movies in the Netflix library and decided to watch this one (along with The Yellow Sea and The Chaser).I started watching it expecting it to be another one of those korean psychological horror movies but I soon had a change of mind as this movie took a comedy-turn for the best.A cheesy and hilarious script, stereotypical character personalities and many huge turn of events. Don't expect to be scared out of your mind, it does have a few fairly surprising moments but in general this movie got a huge focus on comedy.I loved it!

I really had fun watching this movie. The movie did not make me laugh out loud, but I have been very amused by all the crazy and creative ideas, witty conversation and funny characters. If you are a fan of black and odd humor, try this one.I can't find much in this movie that is plain bad, but at the same time, I cant find anything that is extraordinary good. The movie is a little above average. It looked quite low budget, and it probably has been. Considering that, the movie did a pretty good job.Every single Hollywood production has more votes than this movie (228 votes), yet, this movie is better than most Hollywood productions. This flick really deserves a little bit more fame. Just like a lot other Korean movies.

I would give this film a 10/10 just because of how unique, different, and surprisingly fun the film is. I really have not seen any other film like it. The film is chop full of clichés and stereotypical ideas people have about films. Notably, the horror and gang genre. Im Chang-Jeong is quite an extraordinary actor and portrays his character very well. I especially liked him in "Sex is Zero"(Raunchy comedy often dubbed as the "Korean Pie") Interestingly enough there was some romance in it as well, very minimal but still there. This was a goofy outrageous movie and a good one to watch. The relationship developed between Im Chang-Jeong and another certain character(I will not spoil it) caused a huge laugh and it was really a breath of fresh air to see such a relationship. Though this is a horror-comedy combination I would not draw similarities between it with films such as "Scary movie". "Scary movie" does spoofs of other movies, however, Sisily 2km is very original but still fun. Highly recommended.

"Sicily 2km" mixes horror film and tough guy clichés into a cross genre picture that has strong echos of such films as "Shaun of the Dead" or "Army of Darkness". Like those films, it seeks to combine genres in an acceptable way, all the while ensuring that things come with a heavy dose of humor. What we have here is a quartet of "goodfellas" that are looking for a former associate that has lifted a heavy sum of diamond off them. In the mean time, a rural family has come across the compressed pieces of carbon and don't feel like giving them up. Conflict ensues. As things go, the mob boys begin to witness strange things (like a girl's ghostly body hanging at a deserted school) that leads them to believe that the family is hiding more than just the diamonds. It's strengths lay in it's solid filming, quirky script and willing cast. It's major flaw is that while it seeks to mix genre elements, it keeps itself from ever going very far in any direction. All things considered, it ends up a fun piece of pop-corn.8/10
