... View MoreQuite a few years ago I remember seeing a few songs from Minchin and really enjoying them but wondering how many he had to make a show up. I recently got my answer when I watched this because he has many very funny songs which contrast the tone of the music with the content of the lyrics and awkward style of delivery. Outside of maybe one or two I found them all clever and funny – not hilarious, but enjoyably funny. I cannot say the same for the rest of the show though because as he says as part of his opening act, he's not particularly good at the talking stuff. He manages well enough with his personae but I didn't find him as funny as when he was doing his songs. I did like his constant self- depreciating way though and that he wasn't afraid to be clever and hope that the audience go with him (which they mostly do), but I preferred him when he was filling the stage rather than mumbling in part of it. At times these bits were great, but mostly it made me wish he'd get back into the music.Still enjoyable show thanks to how great most of his songs are – but the rest I can take or leave.
... View MoreI first saw the Australian comedian on The Secret Policeman's Ball 2008, and then I saw his debut solo stand up and singing show, I was looking forward to another one. Comedian, and musician, Tim Minchin here plays to a big audience at the Edinburgh Fringe theatre with his great comedy songs, and a little bit of observational comedy. I will be honest in saying that I don't remember the subjects he talks about in the stand up breaks from the music, apart from maybe his wife, inappropriate things to say in situations and his thoughts on the past, the songs did seem more frequent, that is the only reason this isn't quite as good as the previous show. However, for the songs it is great fun, featuring include the title song, "Prejudice", "I Love Jesus", "The Good Book", "If I Didn't Have You" (the song I first ever saw him on TV with, at the Secret Policeman's Ball 2006), "Dark Side" and many more. Tim Minchin was number 81 on The 100 Greatest Stand-Ups 2010. Worth watching!
... View MoreWhat can i say? Tim Minchin is one of the most original and entertaining comedians I have seen for a long time.Every one of the songs on this DVD is laugh out loud funny and highly satirical ranging from dark and slightly immature, to highly intellectual, silly and down right cheeky. The topics range from bears to gingers to bags to Jesus and back again. Interpreting some major and relevant issues in a truly unique way.Although some of his songs feature on previous DVDs, his ginger hair, bare feet and playful personality never get old.In conclusion Tim Minchin rocks!!
