It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

The Tigre Delta is a maze of serene and surreal waterways. The strands of human relationships resemble these delta waters. Strange creatures emerge in a flood and disappear into the mist. Passageways open and shut. People can pass through each other like ghosts and despite proximity and familiarity, never really connect. As Rina and her friend Elena return to a remote, beloved and long neglected delta cottage, they discover developers circling the land like vultures. As more family and friends arrive, Rina and Elena face the challenges of becoming reacquainted with the land and those they thought they knew. These tasks become more complicated as a devastating past comes to the surface for Rina and her son Facundo. This atmospheric and absorbing film revolves around family ties, female loneliness, sexual awakening - or reawakening - and confronting the burdens of the past. The beautiful and mysterious landscape of the Tigre Delta, with the added allure of natural sounds from the area, provides a wonderful setting. The acting is a little clunky and I wish there was more to the dialogue, yet altogether the film is engaging, interesting and refreshing. Tigre emphasizes the importance of communication, awareness and digging deeper - beyond what we think we know - to realize the true and hidden needs of others. Seen at the Miami Film Festival.
