Wow! Such a good movie.

... View MoreHow wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.
... View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
... View MoreThe movie "Tri orísky pro Popelku" (Three wishes for Cinderella) was made in 1973. The movie was made during the Communistic period in the Czech Republic. From my point of view the movie reflects the protest on communism. The prince and Popelka question the authorities all the time. The character Popelka is presented as a strong and powerful woman, which has been a great inspiration for me as a little girl. The story of Popelka is very funny, beautiful and arousing.Popelka (Libuśe Safrankoua) has to work very hard for her stepmother. One day when the king and queen visit her village she manages to escape. In the woods Popelka teases the prince (Pavel Travnicek). A few days later a ball in announced for the prince. The step-mother sends Vinsek to the city to buy clothiers. On his way, Vinsek finds three magic hazel nuts, which he gives to Popelka. The acting of the movie is brilliant. The actors are able to convince me from their feelings, with the help of the help of the wonderful soundtrack. The scenes in which Popelka is messing with authority are extremely funny. The direction is also astonishing. The protest against communism is perfectly hidden fro the people who do not want to see it. The old fairytale Cinderella has turned into a strong story about Popelka. The filming and editing is fluently done. Every shot has a good link to the previous one. In conclusion, Tri Orisky Pro Popelku is an inspiring, funny and beautiful movie. People should definitely watch this movie to see the brilliant acting and the wonderful editing.
... View MoreThis is the classic Cinderella story, though the Czech version involves three wishes with a dress hidden in a nutshell rather than the French version better known in the US. This movie is set in medieval times, with period costumes, castles, beautiful visuals, including winter landscapes, which is not usually featured in fairy tales. It als has wonderful music, with songs performed by the top Czech singer Karel Gott. The heroine is not only pretty but also spunky. Though set in medieval times, Cinderella is rather modern (when it comes to her being able to handle weapons for example). All in all, a very enjoyable movie for any age viewer, one that is both modern and yet at the same time very traditional.Thumbs up on this one!
... View MoreI have thought about this movie now and then and always wondered what it was called. I remember watching it one Christmas and today, I was emailing my sister about a movie we saw on TV when we were kids and I mentioned this one. It took me a few tries but I finally did a search with the right words. Even though I only saw it once, I remember liking it so much. The nuts, the hunt, but I don't remember who brought her the nuts. I remember her asking for "the first thing that hits you on the nose". I was probably around 8 or 9 at the time, but it's a clear memory. I wish I could see this movie again. I bet it would be hard to find.
... View MoreI looked through all the comments here, so I will probably say the same things as everybody else. This movie is the BEST Cinderella movie adaptation ever made! I grew up in Moscow, where this movie is being shown very often on the TV. The acting, dialogues, music, plot everything is just perfect. I wouldn't even compare it to Ever After though I like this one too. I've never seen such a beautiful Cinderella and handsome Prince. And all the comments on this movie made by people all around the world is a true proof that this movie after so many years is still loved that much, which is great, because these days we haven't got so many movies pure and beautiful as this one. THough it's just a Cinderella story. SO, if you haven't seen it yet you SHOUld!!! It's worth it!
