Better Late Then Never
... View MoreWatch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.
... View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
... View MoreExcellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
... View MoreThe novel, written by the brilliant Ted Dekker, had kept me reading from cover to cover. On the other hand, the movie has taken away a lot of what the novel had going for it. The actors did not fit the characters at all, and so much of the story was taken out of it, replaced with details that weren't nearly as good. If you are a fan of the book, the only good thing about the film was the ending (How Sam, Slater and Kevin are all one person). If you watch the movie, not as an adaption, but as a short, fun suspense- thriller, it is an alright flick to watch. But if you're looking for a thorough adaption of the book, just hope that Christopher Nolan has the guts to make an adaption.
... View More**SPOILERS** Hammy and predictable, in its unpredictability, thriller filmed on location in of all places Lodz Poland. Why the makers of "Thr3e" would go as far as Ploand to make a movie that supposed to take place in the US is by far the biggest mystery, far more then the identity of the serial killer in it, in the entire movie! The film mimics far more "The Sixth Sense" then "Saw" or "Se7en" which many critics claim its story copies off from. In it we have this troubled and guilt ridden seminary student Kevin Parson, Marc Blucas, who's life is being threatened, together with those close to him, with death by this screwball who likes to leaves clues to what's behind his strange and deadly actions; thus earning the name from the local newspapers as the "Riddle Killer".We get a clue to the "Riddler's" frame of mind in his insistence, in the messages that he leaves at the scene of his crimes, that Kevin should publicly apologize for what he did to him when he was a boy some 15 years ago. Kevin in picking his brain in just what the hell this "Riddler" guy is talking about comes up with the theory that he, "The Riddler", was some pervert that he caught spying on his then, as well as now, girlfriend Samantha or Sam for short, Laura Jordan, while she was undressing in her bedroom. This lead to the "Riddler" trying to murder Kevin who turned the tables on him locking him in a nearby deserted wear-house, without food and water, and leaving him for dead! Good work on Kevin's part but as he'll soon find out that the "Riddler" not only survived but wants far more then an apology from Kevin he want's him as well as his friends and family members , even his pet dog Demon, dead! Apology or not!***SPOILERS*** The off-the-wall surprise ending in "Thr3e" really makes you wounder if it was put in when those writing the screenplay just ran out of ideas or scenarios and decided to finally end it with as little pain as humanly possible for those watching the film. Even Kevin seemed to joke about it, the ending, as we see him peacefully convalescing at a local Polish, or in the film US, sanitarium. You can't blame Kevin for ending up where he did, in a loony bin, from what he so painfully experienced in the movie. Much of it of his own making!
... View MoreThe reviews will lead to believe that this is a bad movie. Maybe you will dislike it. But if you take their opinion alone, you are seriously missing out.To sum it up quickly, the movie revolves around a guy who is being stalked by a killer. The killer leaves him vague riddles and short time limits to solve them. The story is a lot more detailed than I can really explain, but it is not confusing to follow. I would like to point out now that this is not a horror movie. If you are looking for blood and gore and nothing else, then move on. But this is definitely a suspense "hold-your-breath" thriller. Because I accidentally read some spoilers before watching the movie, I already knew what was going to happen. But I still sat at the edge of my seat, wide-eyed and excited. This is a psychological thriller to the max.Yes, this is a movie with Christian undertones, but for those of you who are turned off by that, don't be. Most of the religious blah blah dissipates in the first 10 or 15 minutes. Overall in the movie, I didn't think there was a lot of overdone religion in it - though just a hair less of it would have made the movie better. As a horror fan and a thriller fan, I think you should really check this movie out. Don't expect gore and blood and you'll love it.Despite the negative reviews on here, give the movie a chance. You'll thank me.
... View MoreI am a pastor and when I heard Fox was doing Fox Faith to make Christian movies I must say I was excited. When a friend recommended this movie and I saw who wrote the book I was even more excited. However I gave the movie a 7 because it really wasn't a Christian movie. Aside from a few vague references to the Bible and to the power of God it really played out more like a psychological type thriller. It wasn't a bad movie and I hope Fox Faith does indeed make some films that are truly Christian but I don't think this one really counts. I am not saying it's a bad movie and I am not saying anything against the writer of the book or the film in general. I would say it keeps you guessing a bit and the end surprised me which doesn't happen with a lot of movies. So I would suggest it just for an older audience but don't expect it to be a Christian movie.
