Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
... View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
... View MoreA terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
... View MoreJust intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
... View MoreAn old Russian-Bulgarian film talking, I think, for the most romantic male psyche. Not accidentally the main actor is a pianist who has to perform 31 concerts in 31 days. More on the twelfth day, he feels very tired. On the way to the next gig, he gets off the train, in which he travels and of course he understand that the fabulous location and the ship from his book really exist. The train in this case symbolizes the track of our monotonous life. Immediately he decided to abandon the manager and all his concerts. Thus ends the real ship among his crew. After agreeing to take it on the road at sea, they experienced a minor incident, after which the protagonist of the film is cast from the ship in a boat. After a long period of time, the main character has lost all hope of salvation. Then appears the wave runner - local legend that saves him. When he wakes up in the boat that rescued him, the pianist sees the girl from the story and falls in love with her. After subsequent adventures, he loses all hope to be with her and returns to the music. It takes some time and accidentally he again meets the girl who saved him. This time they remain together. So the film shows a surprisingly beautiful for its time, the importance of looking for true love because it exists out there somewhere, and if you really decide to wait for it, it will come. ... View MoreI read the book as a child, but saw the movie only recently. I liked it very much: excellent scenario, music, acting. The movie does not follow the book exactly, but conveys the same spirit and, in my opinion, is a nice interpretation of the book. Garvey's accent (Bulgarian, I assume) seemed a little unusual to me, but maybe for that role it is good. This movie is definitely not for people who like Hollywood or any cheap stuff shown on TV nowadays. And, of course, those not fluent in Russian, will miss a lot.
