The Victim Trailers

Annie's life is in jeopardy after she's witnessed the horrific rape and murder of her closest friend. Fleeing from two attackers she stumbles across Kyle, a recluse living in the middle of the woods. Kyle finds the stillness of the woods comforting. The ruggedly handsome loner stays far from civilization - that is - until a single knock on his door throws his solitary life into chaos.

It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

Apparently, the seed of THE VICTIM was planted during a conversation between star Michael Biehn and director Robert Rodriguez while they were making PLANET TERROR; the latter advised the former just how easy it would be to make his own, homemade-style, grindhouse-type movie on a budget out in the woods. So here we have it, THE VICTIM, a wannabe-throwback to the 1970s exploitation films of old, shot out in the woods on the cheap, written by, directed, and starring Biehn.Sadly, the film turns out to be a right dud; it quickly transpires that Biehn is a much better actor than he is a writer or director, and the movie as a whole suffers from a scant script and a real lack of storyline and originality. There are only five characters in this slow, barely-anything-going-on movie, a mix of redneck weirdos, hookers, and drug-addled cops.Inevitably the expected - and extensive - sex scenes are present, alongside a little nudity and gore to appease male viewers. Unfortunately the storyline just isn't complex enough to sustain the brief running time, so Biehn unwisely pads his movie out with endless flashback scenes involving a couple of the female characters which add absolutely nothing to the plot. They seem merely an excuse to show off Scream Queen Danielle Harris (CYRUS: MIND OF A SERIAL KILLER) in a parade of skimpy underclothes. The acting is generally sub-standard, aside from Biehn himself, who puts in a typically charismatic performance; a shame the rest of this amateurish movie doesn't match.

First of all Michael Biehn is an excellent director. He really showed the mind of a killer. I was happy to see two of my favorite actresses Danielle Harris and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn. They really work well together on screen. I never seen a cop like that in a movie in a while. Ryan Honey was a little bit psychotic as a cop. The music was perfect for the movie. I love movies where the special effects is done practically. it looks real on screen. The camera shots were incredible. It must be difficult to direct and act in your own movie but Michael Biehn did it nicely. There were some beautiful locations like Kyle's Cabin. Jennifer Blanc-Biehn is another kind of heroine. She was really scared. I do recommend this movie to people who likes Grindhouse Films.

I have followed the progress of The Victim for the past two years, and now completely understand everything Michael and Jennifer said about it. This is not a film to change your life, or make you contemplate the condition of Man. It is eighty-three minutes of plain, simple fluff! Michael Biehn lets the viewer know right away, on the first opening shot of the woods, that this film is not to be taken too seriously. . That little wink should clue viewers in and draw a chuckle. While the performances in The Victim will probably never win any awards, they are all strong. Some of the dialog is laughable, but that's OK! I believe that was the intention! Some of the lines are direct nods to other films, and Terminator fans should recognize one such reference easily.Knowing what the film-makers went through to complete this film, and what they have since done to promote it and find distribution for it, I have to say kudos and applause to the effort! Their passion and commitment to make an "unrepentantly sleazy" little sexploitation film says to me that making a dream become a reality *can* (and does happen).Jennifer, as Annie, is pure joy to watch. Some of her scenes were very intense, and both she and Michael have admitted that it was their personal relationship as husband and wife that helped to influence her performance. I was utterly convinced of her terror when she got to Kyle's cabin, and her ability to transform from shocked to tough and sarcastic, to beguiling to get what she wants shows a depth to her acting abilities.Ryan Honey and Denny Kirkwood are interesting in their portrayals of two dirty cops, just out to have a good time. Kirkwood got, without doubt, one of the best laugh-out-lines of the movie! You'll know what I mean when you see it. Honey is perfectly smarmy as the Sheriff wanna-be, and I found myself rooting against him at every opportunity.Danielle Harris, aka the Scream Queen, is one saucy, sexy, beautiful woman. I am not familiar with her work in horror films, but in this movie it was easy to see the absolute love that her character Mary and Jen's character Annie share for one another. This was not acting, as the two women are best friends in real life and they were just basically being themselves. She also gets some of the best lines, or eye rolls, or looks of sheer boredom in the movie. She is one powerhouse little lady. All in all, The Victim is a fun little romp. Any Michael Biehn fan will love it for *so* many reasons!! I cannot really talk about the man without gushing, so I will simply say that I am proud of him and his first offering as writer/director. He'd *better* be working on a sequel as penance for the way things end. I actually cursed him, then laughed, when I saw it the first time. So, no... The Victim will not change your life, folks. However, it should let you step outside of your everyday RL drek and just kick back and enjoy for awhile! It won't kill you, and you just might have some fun.My rating on a scale of 1 to 10 is 24.

OK I must review The Victim. I must admit I wasn't instantly hooked in the first 15 minutes. Once everything started to unwrap it was one of his best. I loved the Directing in a sense that it was authentic and real. As were all the performances. I must say too, my favorite ending credits ever. I also loved credits that showed all the cast with names but to do that with the crew-pure genius! Shows totally appreciation for this great crew as does the excellent behind the scenes bonus feature. If this is any indication what we have in store from Blanc Biehn Productions then I say Bring it On Jennifer Blanc-biehn and Michael Biehn! A match made in film heaven.
