A brilliant film that helped define a genre
... View MoreThe film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.
... View MoreThere are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
... View MoreOne of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
... View MoreThis movie is a kind of documentary relating the early history of the Eiffel Tower: From the planning to its first military use. The movie mixes scenes played by actors, cheap CGI views of the Eiffel tower being built, still images from back then, not to forget French Cancan performances. For the *charm of Paris* thing probably. Some interesting points are covered such as technical building stuff, Panama Canal connexion. I had 1 or 2 smiles at historical points: a nepotist politician, the construction halted twice with workers on strike... so cliché of France! Main annoying point: the narrator tends to explain a point just before the scene is played by actors. Maybe you wanna know more about the building, the man (Gustave Eiffel) or the Parisian 1890s fashion? Then this documentary is for you. Otherwise, you could easily find a worthier movie.
