Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

*Spoiler/plot- 1998, This singing group were a rhythm and blues sensation, five singers who created a sound and style that redefined the boundaries of a popular song. But there was a price to be paid for their meteoric rise, and when the pressures of staying in the spotlight became too great to bear, egos flared, giving rise to rivalries that threatened to tear them apart forever. But through it all, from triumph to tragedy, The Temptations forged a musical legacy that brought the country together….and audiences to their feet.*Special Stars- Terron Brooks, Christain Payton, Charles Malik, OB Woodside, Obba Babatunde, Jennifer Lewis, Alan Rosenberg, and Leon.*Theme- Family and artistic talent, when nurtured will produce greatness.*Based on- Detroit's Motown Records history.*Trivia/location/goofs- TV NBC miniseries re-cut to a feature film.*Emotion- An unforgettable film of good acting, interesting story and drama for anyone to watch. This film was full of great musical performances. It told the plain truth about the times that gave a chance for inner city Detroit black youth to get into the music business producing their huge success. A feel good movie.

One of the best Biopics I have ever seen. The accuracy and effort to make the main characters look and sound like the real Temps was just outstanding. Interesting story but I doubt the main theme that Otis was the driving force. I believe he was a very strong character but was/ is undoubtedly the weakest of the Temptations, in fact had he ever left the group would not have suffered at all. He is certainly the worst singer and can only be heard on one song ( I can't get next to you ) and his contribution on that song is very weak. David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and Melvin Franklin were the Temptations and had they replaced Otis with Richard Street or Denis Edwards they would have been even better. What makes them such a lasting phenomenon is the music and the fantastic songs, Smokey Robinson and later Norman Whitfield wrote some of the best group songs ever written. Currently only Otis is left but apart from the nostalgia he still doesn't contribute much to what is in effect a tribute act. Having said that I can only emphasise that this is one of the best Biopics ever, Only Ray ( about Ray Charles ) is a better film in my opinion.

I stumbled upon this movie by accident. Never even heard about it. Saw it for the first time last year. My roommate had bought it from the local Walmart. I missed the beginning but saw enough to know I had to keep watching it. I was truly mesmerized by what I saw. I was not a Temptations fan growing up. I'm from the original MTV era. My musical interest are all over the place! Duran Duran, Journey, Pat Benatar, Def Leppard, that's the stuff I liked back then. Today it's country Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and some classic rock, but also The Spinners, and now The Temptations. Now I have my own place, and The Temptations movie was the first DVD I purchased. I just got in the mail The Temptations Emperors of Soul, and let me tell you it's a 5 disc, 105 songs total. I was blown away!! I recommend it to anyone who is a "Temp." fan. I'm not sure about the last 2 cd's in the set cause it's song from 1972 forward, it's after the Paul and David Ruffin era. But I will give it a listen. The actors they got to portray the singers did an excellent job of bringer the singers to film. I think Leon looks more David Ruffin, then the real David Ruffin. (lol) And I could look at Christian Payton forever!!! It's a shame there is not an original soundtrack featuring the actors singing the songs they preformed for the movie. This would be a cool cd to own along with the move.I do want to give a "shout out" about Dennis Edwards. He has a strong earthy voice, that just grabs you. He was also a contributor to the Temps, and the success of their music. Even though the movie focused on the 5 founding members, he stepped in when David stepped out.

I have seen this movie sooo many times. it is great, but I have two questions,if anyone can answer I will be sooo thankful.1st question: If you can remember that part in the middle where I believe the group was at Mama Rose's house celebrating and taking pictures and Paul Williams was making a toast. In a few scenes after he was arguing with his wife when he was drunk, he was singing lines from a song called "For Once In My Life" while Melvin a.k.a Blue was playing the piano. Does anybody know where i ca go get a version of that song where he was singing? I know its also on a Stevie Wonder album, but thats not the version I want. I want the version that Paul sung. 2nd question. Near the end when the great Smokey Robinson sang at Melvin's funeral,he sang a song called "Im Really Gonna Miss You" I have tried sooo very hard to find this song with no luck. Can somebody tell me where I can go to get a copy of the song? I will be so grateful!!!!!
