This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

This short film won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short. It was the spark plug for a movement to establish the Redwood National Park, established the year after the film was produced. (1967 is considered by some as the time when out current national preservation movement for historic buildings began, so the film is in keeping with the times in that sense.) The film itself has excellent cinematography. Unfortunately, the film on the DVD is faded and in need of restoration. The narrative is sparse and plodding. However, the reason for the film is given at the end. It points out that it will take 1000 years to replace the mature redwoods if all are cut down.I am glad that The Redwoods is finally out on DVD. It has taken too long to issue this.
