The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

This movie often teeters between dull and obnoxious. The plot is pretty standard kid stuff, but the characters are really annoying. There's some bumbling security guards, snotty royals, and totally radical skater kids. The parents in this movie are really horrible. The dad got a job, locked his son out of house, and basically didn't come home for a week. This is one of those kid's movies that relies on all of the adult characters being complete morons. All of the jokes are immature or dated. There is not one laugh to be had, and the ending was incredibly rushed. You'll only enjoy this one if you're a huge fan of one of the actors, or an eight-year-old from the 90s. It's no wonder Arye Gross never directed another film.

Good hearted remake of the prince and the pauper tale transplanted to modern day California. Not a bad flick if you're 11 years old. don't expect to enjoy it if you're any older unless you're seriously chillin' dude.
