I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

No big spoilers here, unless you have seen the other movie I mention. Sadly this short movie appears to be very similar (too close for comfort) to another movie which came out in 2003, "High Tension". The earlier movie is far superior and delivers on all counts - gore, intrigue and shock. Had I seen this short movie first then I may have thought this to be decent and original, instead it is a poor facsimile. Having said that, it does star Jennie Jacques, some of her other movies are certainly worth checking out and this one features her throughout.Save yourself the time, watch High Tension (French movie) and possibly come back to this for comparison.

I thought it was great. A little confusing at the end but the suspense and production values were top-notch. Flesh out the characters more and improve the ending and it could easily be a full length feature film. The acting and film work were the best I've seen in a short film in a long time. I've seen the actress who played the nanny (Jennie Jacques) in other films such as " Truth or Dare " and " Cherry Tree Lane " and thought she was very good in those as well.I am not sure the ending is as good as it could have been but over-all the short film is great. Although it was predictable in some areas in was still good in a genre that has had just about everything you could think of happen in it, has already been done over and over. I'd love to see more films from the directors the Santoro brothers. I guess I'd give it 7 stars out of 10 for a short film.

With that title I am referring to Alex and Oli Santoro, the two brothers who made this film. They have worked a lot in other areas, but for both it was the first time they wrote and directed a movie. And taking that into account, this was a pretty impressive film. It is a mix of horror, mystery and drama with the horror component certainly being the most crucial. Pretty much everything here works out. The acting is good, it is a very atmospheric watch and the contrast between the setting early on and in the end (also the weather) couldn't be any more different. The monster is really creepy and I would also watch a full feature with it. The nanny background brings a nice touch of innocence here. The only thing I really wasn't 100% fond of is the plot twist at the end. It was not too surprising, but still I somehow did not like it entirely. It certainly wasn't bad enough though to destroy everything good from before. I recommend "The Other Side" and I hope the Santoro Brothers will return to filmmaking at some point. I certainly see some nice talent here and it sucks to see that this one is already 4 years old now and they still haven't made another movie. Anyway, go watch "The Other Side". You will not be disappointed.
