It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

I didn't hate this movie. It's witty, clever, intelligent and there's a sarcastic creativity at work behind the scenes. However...The Onion Movie, in the end, falls victim to sub-par comedic performances. That's the bottom line. A joke is only as good as the person telling the joke...this movie has good jokes and poor delivery thus it comes out stale, rushed, and it's timing is terrible. There are good actors in it...there are funny people in it..but just not enough to get the old funny-box ripping. I blame the director and the casting. Wrong people...wrong direction. A lot of people do love this movie and think it's the greatest thing ever. They say..oh it's for people with MY kind of sense of humor. Well mine is pretty wide....some of my favorite comedies movies and television include: Human Giant, The Dave Chappelle Show, Naked Gun, Airplane, I'm Gonna Get You Sucka, Black Dynamite, Family Guy, and pretty much all of Adult Swim's lineup. If your like me in your comedic tastes then you probably WILL NOT love this movie. Respect the script...no love for the final product.

I've always loved The Onion website, and just recently they started the Onion News Network TV show. I love the show, and was looking forward to this movie, but it's such a disappointment. The idea behind the film is that it's like an extended news broadcast with reporters on the scene of a recent disaster, an interview with a Britney Spears-type character and an anchorman linking these, and more, together. In addition, there's a recurring advert for a Steven Seagal movie that pops up in various sketches. Bizarrely, there are also sketches where it's like a serious discussion of a film, but it's this film they're discussing. And they're not funny.I laughed once during the film and smiled a few times, but most often I was just waiting for one sketch to end and then next one to begin. There's very little of the type of humour I've come to expect from the website or the new TV show. It's like they tried to make it appeal to a larger audience, and in doing so they've stripped it of the often caustic humour that is so appealing. There are moments when it does shine through, but most often it's like a bland, regular TV sketch show, extended to 80 minutes. If you're a fan of The Onion, I would honestly tell you to avoid this movie. You will only be disappointed.

The Onion Movie kicks a*s! Who would've thought that a film about 1 1/2 hours of news report could be so entertaining, and hilarious! It is best to leave your mind goes blank, and to not make any assumptions while watching this film. It'll certainly better that way. Hard-hitting jokes, straight-up commentary without the need to be politically correct, and uncanny ability to tickle your funny bones! It is presented in an unassuming way, letting the viewers to decide on its validity. Some viewers may get offended by the jokes, but it is not the intention of the film (or is it?) All in all, a wonderful film, make in an ingenious way, and delivered the right punchlines!

Hmmmm... About as funny as getting getting your balls cut off.Crass - Check. Unoriginal - Check. Racist - Check. Waste of time - Check. This movie missed the boat by about 20 years; definitely circa late 80's 'comedy' - and I use this word in the broadest sense of the definition...I think if you smoked about 1lb of grass, severed your brain stem and had a lobotomy you may just manage to laugh... Once. Come to think of it, the people who voted this movie's score so high were definitely suffering from the above mental afflictions. How this got over 1 in IMDb defies logic...Is there anyway to get a reclaim the memory and time I lost watching this abortion of a movie?
