Like most viewers I suppose, I was expecting something of a sequel to The Net, but while the premise is the same, this is a completely different film. A computer whiz has her identity stolen leaving her all alone in the world, and as Mrs. Meers always says, "Sad to be all alone in the world." However the twist here is that we're in Istanbul. Ms Deloach delivers a creditable performance of a computer whiz with moxie who finds herself without any identity in a strange city where she doesn't understand the language and there's no way to tell who to trust. Direction is tight and to the point. The plot is full of holes, but hey, it's a movie and you get a lot of scenic Istanbul to make up for that. Overall, I enjoyed this outing. One complaint: the continual trick of stopping the action for a sec throughout the movie did nothing for me nor for the film.

OK this film (tape?) has a fair few flaws, but not really that many, at least compared with The Net 1. As it mentions in the end credits, the movie was shot entirely on HD Video, something we're going to see a lot more of, and this must have a very significant impact on production costs.Nevertheless, I can forgive it most of its faults except one. The laughably unrealistic portrayal of computer screens. Why do all Hollywood directors think that computer screens need to have two-inch-high fonts and animated doohickeys all over the place? This sort of movie is inevitably going to be watched by dweebs all over the planet who simply will not put up with this sort of thing.Takedown, I think, was the only film I've ever seen which had believable computer screens. Given the subject matter, just as well. So why not this one? There is simply no excuse. There are just too many computer-literate ppl out there now, and they all switch off as soon as they spot rubbish like that. It ruins the whole experience. Truly. If not for that, I would have given it an 8 or 9.

The dot com bubble burst for this one. What a waste of time and money. If I churned out rubbish like this in my job, my career would be over. The Net 2.0 was a waste of the electrons required to run my DVD player and remote control. After about half-an-hour, I ended up scanning through this movie(!) at 40x speed just to get it over with. The story was in-line with the acting, effects, and cinematography, i.e. very poor indeed. Now don't get me wrong, you may be thinking that there was nothing at all about The Net 2.0 that has any merit, and you would be right, so, DON'T get me wrong, it is a truly awful movie. In my opinion the DVD case is worth more than the DVD and it's contents. Breaking the DVD into itsy bitsy pieces would be an improvement.
