Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreGiven that this movie was sponsored by a major Canadian beer brewer, it should come as no surprise that there are plenty of plugs for the brewer's beer throughout. Though I am pretty sure that ultimately the movie was designed to be more of a tax write-off than something that would sell cans of brew, seeing that the movie got a small (and quick) theatrical release with little publicity. Despite that strong possibility, the movie is surprisingly not a cheap quickie. The look and feel of the movie is quite strong, from the expert camera work to the fact that the opening credits are animated. And the people in front of the camera show some charm and talent. It's too bad that the movie is for the most part desperately unfunny. Oh, there are a few gags that made me chuckle a little (it helps if you are Canadian), but the majority of the humor is unbelievably crude, and seems to have been written by people who think that shocking content is automatically funny. (One eyebrow-raising visual might be considered hard core pornography by some sensitive viewers.) The humor that isn't crude is nothing for the most part we haven't seen before, with very familiar situations and characters (the fact that one character resembles Jack Black can't be a coincidence.) Somehow despite all these flaws, the movie never gets boring or tedious, but all the same you'd be better off spending the rental fee for this movie on a sample of the movie sponsor's brew instead.
... View MoreGarbage movie. Pretty much more boring than church. Low budget, crude toilet humour, Cheap classless nudity. Almost a Trailer Park Boys/National Lampoons rip off with a dash of Strange Brew: (just without the Mckenzie brothers) A real and pure piece of Canadian Comedy. Tons of repetitive bad acting. This was an extremely long commercial for name branded beer and just lags on and on and also screams out the "stereotypical" Canadian Hoser. On a slight positive note the soundtrack is solid, and the only reason why I gave it the rating I did. Pure CanCon. Gold if your Canadian. Marty McSorely is also gold, if you're an Oilers fan of course.
... View MoreThis movie is definitely no masterpiece but at least it wasn't an hour and a half commercial for Kokanee which is what I was pretty much expecting but they actually are pretty subtle about it. I personally think it deserves a little more than the 3.2 rating it currently has. It kind of reminds me of the classic National Lampoon movies before they really started to go downhill and with a little bit of tweaking it potentially could have been a much better movie than it was. There were a few pretty solid jokes that made me laugh and some that went just a little too far or kept going way too long like the whole breast milk scene on the airplane that did't go anywhere or add anything to the story. It has a very strong Canadian influence which people from other countries may not understand nearly as much as someone from the beautiful Province of British Columbia like myself. If you are looking for a movie that you can just chill out, drink a few beers, have some laughs and don't try to over analyze it then I would recommend this one for you. It has Beer, Babes, Boobs, The Kokanee Rangers, and of course the Sasquatch
... View MoreThis movie truly understands BC and the laid-back nature of the small Ski town. The jokes were obvious and a few scenes seems do go on and on, but overall the movie was entertaining and made me laugh.most impressive for a move that was made by Kokanee was that it wasn't a 2 hour Ad. It had a real story to tell, something deeper than a lot of the sex/party comedies that it seemed to borrow from. It explored the value of friendships, and the importance of knowing ones self. While it's no contender for a Juno, it was an entertaining and fun look at small town Canada - from a crew that actually get's small town Canada.
