Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

For those of you who grew up in the 80s like me, the old time USA channel only had things to show: WWF, and badly dubbed Kung Fu movies produced by the Shaw Brothers. The plot, as it were, is a combination of all of those movies. The movie is hysterical. No one involved is taking themselves seriously (how could they?) and wow, it sure does look like Russell Crowe is having the time of his life.

I had some reservations about this movie, but still gave it a go. And I will say that the movie was entertaining, but certain parts about it was really not in my taste or liking. For starters, then having RZA in one of the lead roles, seriously? It was just one of those Things that didn't Work well with me. And also, I was wondering why the Chinese people were speaking English. It just didn't make any sense, but of course it appeals to people scared of foreign films and easier to keep it in English. And the movie did have too much of a Westernized touch to it. I guess that is what you get when non-Chinese attempt at making a Chinese action martial arts movie. The martial arts and fighting sequences were quite good, but of course why wouldn't it be with Cory Yuen behind the choreography? And the entire scenery, sets and atmosphere was good. It is hard not to get taken in by the impressive work that went into the production of the movie and the details; ranging from the costumes to the buildings.I will say that the characters were colorful and well-chiseled out. I enjoyed how much detail and story that went into each character. And they were nicely brought to life on the screen by the actors and actresses, but also by the costumes and props."The Man With the Iron Fists" has an impressive cast list, especially amongst the Asian cast. If you are familiar with Asian cinema, then you will find yourself in for a treat when you see who is in this movie. The ultimately downside to this movie was the choice of music. Wow, are you kidding me? The music in the movie was bloody awful, and it was so out of tune with the entire movie. The music was so bad that I was wishing for an 'exclude the music score' button on the remote control. But all in all, aside from some eye- and ear-sore flaws, then "The Man With the Iron Fists" was entertaining and full of fighting and action. It is well worth sitting down to watch.

What a load of old rubbish.I wanted another Chinese masterpiece like Flying Tigers, or The Warlords. Instead I got a Western in fancy Chinese costumes. All it needed was a soundtrack by Enrico Morricone for it to become a Ho-Fun Western. The dubbing was terrible, the plot weak, the fight scenes visceral but not in a Tarantino way, more of a cartoon way. It's like a basic Chinese meal which has been modified for Western tastes. Sort of Chinese, but ruined by trying to cater for the tasteless hoi- poloi.I managed to last almost to half way, then I just had to leave before I poked my eyes out with sharpened chopsticks.I can't believe they made a sequel.

Seeing and hearing about this film gave me the impression it could be awesome and different then other fighting films and with stars as Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu I was hoping for something great, but it doesn't really reach that high on the scale. It does have a lot of good things, there are some great fighting scenes off course those are some of the most important scenes of the film. It have some great, strange and odd characters, but they really fit into the universe. It is filled with action and adventure and the story is an okay one, but it takes itself a bit too serious.I was entertained and had a good time watching it, but I feel it could have been something more and could have been better in many ways.
