It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

I'm a big Bruce Lee fan, own a few of his biographies, and have read a lot about his life on the Internet. Judging by some of the past reviews, I know this series is not going to please the die-hard fanatics who insist that every facet of his life be represented accurately on the screen. Most hardcore Lee fans know, for instance, that Bruce Lee was injured in the gym in 1970, not in the Wong Jack Man fight as portrayed in this series. However, despite many historical inaccuracies, this is still a great and watchable drama. I feel like if I want to learn more about Bruce Lee's actual life, then I'll stick to firsthand sources like Leo Fong and Linda Lee. But if I want to be entertained by a series which features very skilled acting, directing, incredible pacing (each episode focuses on a small event in the fictional Bruce Lee's life and gives appropriate time to each of these segments), this is not the worst show for that.

I get that this was written almost entirely from the point of view of the Chinese. And it is important always to take pride in your heritage. Therefore, you really should change the title of this show to Bruce Lee - Hero of the Chinese.I am a martial artists, and I have been practicing what everyone calls MMA since I was in my teens. I read Bruce Lees' Tao of Jeet Kwon Do in the 80's and was very inspired to seek out and train myself in this philosophy. That being said, I am not a historian on Bruce. I am however, an American, and old enough to have lived thru the late 60's, 70's, 80's and thru today. So I am familiar with pop culture, and have vested many hours in Bruce Lees films, history, biographies and the like.Let me say that the inaccuracies of this film are thoroughly discussed in other reviews. I do agree that there are many, many, many. The parts that get to me (other than the 3 annoying self promoting songs, of which I will briefly discuss) is that I can not believe that Chinese people have no understanding of our medical or legal system. The programs portrayal of Bruce's arrest for getting in a fight for stopping a rape is not even close to what would have actually happened. The program surmises that the witnesses testimonies couldn't be taking because they knew both Bruce and the Philippine girl. Not even close to the truth. The fact the police officer then tells Bruce that he won't be release until he can prove his innocence. NO. Innocent until proved guilty. The Police have to prove, not Bruce. OMG. Then the court of inquiry by I guess he was the Chief of Police. Nope. Court of Law, with a Judge and a Prosecutor and a Defense Attorney, its called an arrangement.Next up is his Aunt. Oh we can't help her unless you go pay money. No. Sorry. Medical Treatment cannot be refused no matter how poor you are in the country. You might say, well she needed blood, that is what the Red Cross does in here, in America. I guess they don't in China, For that I am truly sorry. Now to the Song...Ughhh. Who translated this song? And the person singing it, clearly spoke English, could they not fix the grammatical errors? Master of Soul, oh does he pay the blues too, or jazz? Masters Soul. Bruce Lee Battle Call. In this instance Call is the noun making Bruce, Lee and Battle adjectives. It is like saying Vanilla Ice Cream Call. Corrected it should be Bruce Lee's Battle Call. Possessive of Bruce Lee's shout, what shout? His Battle Call. While they did fix the heel to hills they didn't change the singular shore to shores. As far as the song that just repeats Bruce Lee's name, over and over and over and over. Ugggh. As far the Rock anthem one. It sort of sounds like Kiss doesn't it? Weird since Kiss came out in the mid 70's.So, if you want some entertainment, this is OK, with subtitles. If you are thinking this is the story of Bruce Lee or a true portrayal of his life. Pick up the biographies out on Bruce Lee, this is not it.Have a wonderful viewing experience.

Despite this series having Bruce Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, at the helm as executive producer it suffers from the same embellished melodrama and historical inaccuracies that other Bruce Lee bio-pics have been plagued with. This is understandable since Chinese productions are notorious with playing loose with the actual facts. The Donnie Yen "Ip Man" series of movies is a prime example of artistic license.Chinese films have always been jingoistic and xenophobic, often villainizing other cultures as being evil invaders, as a means of elevating the Chinese hero in the movie who inevitably and selflessly fights the "foreign devils" for the right of the oppressed Chinese - - which is a bit ironic considering in the last 100 years, the Chinese are possibly the most pervasive cultures to globally migrate to other countries using the affluence of commerce and business as the means rather than military force. Just sayin'.Hollywood is not any better with their highly embellished, Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story. A more apt title would have been A Bruce Lee Fable! It's understandable because real life is much more boring than real life. From everything I have read on Bruce Lee, his life was not as fantastic as that portrayed in this and other films. He did not get into even half the fights and confrontations portrayed in this movie, he faced more institutionalized racism (lack of opportunities) than outward racism, he injured himself lifting weights (as another poster has mentioned), had a bad temper, but otherwise was a hard working, ambitious guy...not exactly enough for a Hollywood or Asiawood movie I suppose. The danger to these over dramatized events of his life is that subsequent generations learning about Bruce Lee take them as fact and it really distorts the real life of Bruce Lee and his accomplishments.I hate to say this but the most accurate portrayal of Bruce Lee might still be the 1976 exploitation movie, Bruce Lee The Man The Myth...and that's not saying much.
