The Lazarus Project Trailers

After Ben Garvey foolishly turned back to crime, he thought his life was over when he was sentenced to death by lethal injection. But his death sentence isn't quite what it seems, as Ben regains consciousness near an eerie psychiatric ward, where he's told he's been hired as the groundskeeper. With the state of his soul in question, and the love for his wife and daughter all the more real and powerful, Ben must figure out if he's truly cheated death, or if he's become part of something far more sinister.

Lack of good storyline.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

Lazarus project (2008)I picked this movie up because it was on the list of the movies with Spiritual Awakening. However, it was a disappointing experience.Intriguing begging with a glimpse of an Enlightening idea failed to be developed into a good plot for the story. The script was written callously, it lacks basic logic, and the spiritual core totally collapses; there ISN'T anything to learn. The protagonist (Ben) for a NEW LIFE given (for FREE!) is not only ungrateful for that, but he also becomes a trouble-maker for all people around him, including the members of his own family. In the NEW life the return home is the obsession of the protagonist.Ben, who at the beginning of the movie failed to reach any "basic" challenge – neither to find a new job, nor to succeed in his criminal action; at the end of the movie, becomes" illegal without doubt " and appears in front of his family with empty hands and an awful track of records. It looks like the director of the movie primarily focuses on the commercial success, not on teaching an audience anything. I rated this movie a generous 3 stars for the beautiful eyes of the protagonist ONLY.

The first twenty minutes of this movie were as bad as TV short movies of the 80s: minimal script, not very good acting and a buggy plot.I was about to quit so I started to press forward and I began wondering what was going on. I started back to the 20th minute and I enjoyed this nice thriller, quite unpredictable I must say.Anyway some questions arise. How did they know he was falling asleep while smoking? Is it possible that someone is sentenced to death penalty if he has not killed anyone, not even stolen anything? The plot would have worked fine even if Ben had killed someone during the robbery.7/10

Basically it's all about chances, choices and consequences. More specifically how rare second chances in life are. Ben is a decent family man who still manages to get involved with crime. That said, he remains a sympathetic protagonist. The film asks some pretty deep questions and the slow pace provides an opportunity to reflect on them. The story is principally set in an institution amidst leafy countryside. A place Ben is not allowed to leave. Also given the surrealism in places there are echos of The Prisoner here. Ultimately, there are echos of another production as well. The Lazarus Project is unabashedly philosophical, and perhaps a spiritual, piece minus the sort of ham-fisted didacticism found in The Box (2009).

This is one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. This movie was nowhere near worth the eight dollars and hour and a half of my life spent on it.Where do I begin? Had this been a Lifetime movie, people would see just how crappy this movie really is. It really is *just* like one of those cheesy late night flicks on LMN pick-a-flick weekends. The acting is competent, but that doesn't save the characters or story from poor writing. For a "psychological thriller" there is no depth or speck of imagination to be found. This kind of movie has been done several times in several different ways, and this version just happens to be more yawn worthy than most. The characters are bland. Everyone is so perfectly two dimensional there's no challenge for the audience to engage in complexity of personality whatsoever. This is a movie that tries to be more than it can. It tries to be a thriller, but the scenes are boring rather than creepy or intriguing. It tries to be a mystery, but everything is so obvious it can't be. It tries to be a suspenseful conspiracy, but it ends up falling on it's anticlimactic face with a saccharine sweet ending. And rather than having a story that establishes a realistic situation in the beginning; the viewer is taken immediately to some bizarre parallel universe where men who don't carry guns are convicted and executed for the crimes of trigger happy cops. This same bizarre universe includes a newspaper that prints false stories, a dog named "dog," a psychiatric facility that gives entry level inmates complete run of the place, and a staff in charge so weak willed and unprepared for the event that an inmate of average intelligence figures out bullcrap for what it is. There are some movies that succeed because they're just plain weird. There's some movies that succeed because they're just mindless entertainment. There's some movies that succeed because they can evoke a wide range of emotion within the audience. This movie FAILS on all those levels, and more.
