Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

This movie is full of adventure, real life situations, and lots of fiction. The main characters are not what you expect. This is also a family movie, good for all ages. I love that there is science fiction because I am a sci-fi buff. The location of the main scene is a perfect location to feel secluded. There are quite a few good actors in here too. If you like sci-fi and family movies with a little action you are going to love this movie.

Noah and Emma find assorted toy-type items (including a toy rabbit which Emma names Mimzy and which seems to talk to her) which behave unusually and seem to make the two children much cleverer, piqueing the interest of Noah's science teacher. However, the Government gets wind of these oddnesses, and, well, you know how paranoid Government departments can get.In many respects this is quite a good family movie, with decent performances (especially from the two kids - the girl has an annoyingly squeaky voice but acts well) and a tolerable payoff. It is, however, as dumb as a plate full of chicken wings. Especially irritating is the fact that people question the children and, as soon as the children start explaining this stuff which everyone has witnessed, they are ignored, disbelieved, or both. And as for the paranoid Government department, well, 'nuff said. It's not bad if you don't feel very critical.

People on IMDb are comparing this film to lots of others, none of which I've seen, so I can't comment on that aspect. "The Last Mimzy" from 2007 is a children's' film that adults will also enjoy. It stars Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, Rainn Wilson, Michael Clark Duncan, Chris O'Neil and Rhiannon Leigh Wryn. The story concerns a brother and sister who find a box in the ocean that contains toys with magical powers. The sister becomes attached to one of the toys, a bunny that is named Mimzy and who seems to give her messages. This is a fantasy, quasi-sci fi film that touches on several philosophies, including Buddhism and metaphysics, and it's also a bit of a mystery. It did remind me of one film I've seen, ET. The kids were cute and believable as brother and sister. Rainn Wilson, as the boy's science teacher, had the showiest role, and he brought a lot to it.I can't say too much about it except that it's a decent story with nice effects that kids should enjoy. For the adults, well, it's good to be reminded once in a while in this high tech world of the importance of humanity.

This movie is beautiful and endearing. The movie stars two young children and both give strong and convincing performances. Also, the special effects are played down in favor of telling the story, which heightens the drama as the story unfolds. The story is original and the deals with several intriguing themes. That two children become the agents through which momentous events occur gives the story an aura of innocence which makes it an even more compelling work of art. Also interesting is the role played by simple-looking toys in the movie. This movie shows that toys need not be complex or glitzy to stimulate a child's imagination, or to facilitate communication through the portal of time. The most innocent-looking objects may be the things through which great things occur.
