I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

For the most part, "The Last American Virgin" is your run-of-the-mill teen sex comedy (a genre for which I've apparently lost taste over the years), albeit with a pretty remarkable soundtrack. There were a couple of comedic bits that were amusing, certainly enough to keep me hooked in. But at a certain point (somewhat late in the game) the movie takes a real turn, and one of these three horndogs becomes the film's romantic, doomed to a sex life full of frustration and misery. Eventually, the songs become emotional music cues as the movie adopts a mature tone (possibly sexist, but deeply cynical). And that ending (I won't give it away, but I could sense it coming with dread) is what makes this film resonate. And it's a jaw-dropper.7/10

For an American teen sex comedy of the 1980s, THE LAST American VIRGIN is surprisingly strong viewing. It features a cast of characters who are both likable and more importantly realistic; a fast-moving plot with plenty of laughs and incident to keep it moving; and a surprisingly deep and dramatic final half hour which transcends the usual boundaries of the sex comedy genre to become something more, perhaps a work of social drama. This is invigorating stuff, with lively direction from Boaz Davidson, here basically remaking his own Israeli film LEMON POPSICLE. Most of the cast were unknown to me but do well in their various parts: Lawrence Monoson as the lovesick lead (we've all been there), Steve Antin as the jock, AMITYVILLE II: THE POSSESSION's Diane Franklin as the object of Monoson's obsession. There's plenty of nudity here and the usual encounters we expect from high school comedies, such as spying on the girl's changing room, a visit to a hooker, and plenty more. One stand-out supporting role comes from Louisa Moritz playing what would today be described as a 'cougar' who the boys end up visiting. What follows is pretty much unforgettable and must have been for all the teenage boys who saw this film back in the day. The love triangle aspect of the film isn't funny at all, but rather awkward and, yes, tragic. It's as though the comedy slips away as the running time progresses, leaving something deep and meaningful behind it. The ending has the same impact as being dunked in an ice-cold river, rounding off what is certainly an above-average movie.

Some entries in this genre deserve more credit than they get, and "The Last American Virgin" really never gets that raunchy. Sure, it's got some amusing gags, but this is not on the same level as "Porky's". It's got some real heart to it, and doesn't paint its characters in a one-dimensional manner. Lawrence Monoson - whom you may also remember as obnoxious Ted in "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" - stars as Gary, the most low key member of a trio of friends who are looking for some action. Wacky hijinks ensue when, among other things, they take a trio of girls home for an impromptu "party", and get it on with a hot-to-trot Latin bombshell (the hilarious and uber-sexy Louisa Moritz). But things get dramatic when Gary falls for Karen (80s sweetheart Diane Franklin), a new girl in town who prefers Garys' hunkier buddy Rick (Steve Antin). The characters are not innocent, and they are flawed to an extent, but are basically likable until Rick declines taking responsibility. At that point one thinks that Gary will finally find the happiness that he seeks, but things don't work out the way that the audience will expect. The ending is a little too abrupt, but it is a heartbreaker. Up until then this is pretty engaging stuff, with fine characterizations and memorable characters, not to mention a soundtrack that's chock full of hits of the day, from artists ranging from The Cars to The Commodores to Tommy Tutone. (This viewer can still hear the theme song in his head as he types this.) Writer / director Boaz Davidson handles the more serious moments with sensitivity, and guides a cast also including such actors as Brian Peck ("The Return of the Living Dead"), Kimmy Robertson ('Twin Peaks'), and Joe Rubbo as Gary and Ricks' corpulent, cheerful buddy David. All in all, this early 80s comedy / drama works well as a snapshot of the time as well as an entertaining movie, and has some fun moments as it plays out. Plus, Franklin looks so foxy it's easy to understand why any guy would fall for her. Folks looking for a much more outrageous spectacle should check out something like "Screwballs", but those hoping for something a little "classier" would be well advised to seek out "The Last American Virgin". Eight out of 10.

Most of the movie is just like all the other high school dating B movies with nudity to keep guys glued to the screen. You have the typical nerd who likes the pretty girl who likes the handsome/cool guy who is a jerk. In this movie though the jerk, and the leading "hero" are actually friends which is something different. Towards the end of the movie though the movie becomes more serious. I have never seen a movie where the tone switched so dramatically. I gave the movie a six at first(20 minutes before the end), but after seeing the ending I moved it to a 7. I will admit the movie as a whole is not a 7. Not including the ending it is a 5 or 6, but the ending was so great to me that I pushed it to a 7.
