There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.

"The Invention of Lying" tells the story of a middle-aged writer, living in a world where no lie has ever been spoken. After a series of rather depressing events, he notices that by simply not telling the truth, he can earn a lot of personal profit, which rapidly gets him into some quite tricky situations.It is generally a clever idea to show the value of lies through a scenario where they're missing completely. Unfortunately, a lot of times it feels like there hasn't been much more than this concept as a basis for this film. There are indeed some very funny scenes, coming along with a few very clever predictions for this fictional scenario. However, some of the other gags are rather cheap and the whole part about religion seemed a bit too wanted. All in all this is a can-watch with some nice ideas under pretty interesting circumstances. Nothing you mustn't miss but surely not the worst comedy for a cozy tv evening.

This film, if it can be called one, can be basically described as 'the awful invention of a script' to trash God and believers. The movie has been created by people with so little imagination that everyone keeps repeating two lines -- "short fat kids with stub noses" and "the man in the sky" countless number of times. I wonder how anyone can venture to make a movie with such limited imagination. It looks like an amateur attempt at movie making, completed in a few days with minimum people. Obviously, those behind the script, screenplay and direction have been gifted very little with creativity by "the man in the sky". If you have time to waste, please go try counting waves that lash on the beach. And if you have money to waste just put it through a paper shredder. But definitely, don't waste a nickel on this apology of a movie.

If there is a concept of selling and buying something then definitely lie was before that. When I saw the first lie was invented in a bank in this movie then immediately I have shift deleted the movie. I have written unnecessary lines because I have to make 10 lines at least to pass IMDb filter.

Recommended by a friend i gave this movie a shot. He only told me the idea behind the plot. A perfect world where no one is lying and a guy by accident invents it. This sounded really interesting and I wanted to see the movie in a second. In my head I had a lot of different possibilities what they could have included into the movie. Unfortunately the whole movie turned out to be kinda boring. Some funny situations and scenes helped me through it but i definitely would not look it again. I was disappointed of how they took this promising idea and turn it into a boring story.Although some scenes made me smile, not a too bad rating.I recommend the movie if you do not have anything else one your watch-list and want to see a no-brainer.
