TrueHello

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

This rarely rises above a ho hum take on the 'time traveller' genre and just off the top of my head I can think of several superior examples. It may be that my lifelong indifference/dislike of Ann Blyth plays a part; I find it inconceivable that anyone, let alone Tyrone Power could prefer Blyth over Beatrice Campbell but on the other hand, like the man said, to each his own. To my mind Power fails to convince as a man so obsessed with the past that he will literally move heaven and earth to become a part of it whilst the schtick of the love object from the past returning in a modern-day counterpart has been done to death (sorry), think Rhonda Fleming in A Yankee At King Arthur's court, released a scant two years before this one. Passable - just.

I, too, saw this film when I was young; it is a wonderful fantasy of a man getting transported back to the 18th century. Tyrone is extremely handsome and dashing, as always. The sets and costumes are lovely. I was enchanted by the pretext of the film, as time travel is a favorite film theme of mine. It fulfilled my young girl's fantasy of romance. I watched the "Eddy Duchin Story" tonight and was reminded of this film, but I couldn't come up with the name...of course it was listed on IMDb! I am disappointed, however, to see that it is not available for purchase. I hope in the future that this under-seen film can be enjoyed again! Maybe TCM will play it soon...

I have also seen this film when I was a child and have never been able to "forget" it. It was a love story and science fiction rolled into one. Tyrone Power and Ann Blyth have never acted together before or after this film. Excellent plot line. A stage play was also done of this story called "Barkely Square" which I have also seen twice. After almost 10 years of searching for a copy of this film without success, I have now come closer to the end of my search. Also, trying to find why this film is not available to the public. In around 1990 AMC TV did show this film. After writing to them to no avail, I gave up at that time. Now, with the help of a friend in the industry I hope to either get a copy of it in the near future or at least find out why not. Once the information is available to me I will list it on IMDb site.

I saw this movie "I'll Never Forget You", about 20 year ago and it was very entertaining. The story was very fresh ,in the sense that it was not a retread as we are all use to now a days. I would go as far as to say, it's one of the best fantasy / dramas of 20th century film making. Tyrone Power and Ann Blight performances make us believe their characters. The fantasy and drama of this film really comes through. I ,for one, would like to see it re-released on DVD, so young people could get a chance to see it. You know, the violence, we call movie making now days, is not conducive to entertainment or brain power. This movie is entertaining and leaves room for thought.
