The Hidden Enforcers Trailers

A retired cop trains four assassins to do the jobs of cops, whom he sees as unable to do the right things. He sends his four students to assassinate drug dealers. Obviously, that creates some problems as they kill good and bad people.

Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

I've seen a DVD cover for "Summer Killer" / "Hidden Enforcers" that tries to make it look like this film is fun. Forget it. It's a grim, brutal bloodbath where not even a little kid is spared from sudden killing. Many Hong Kong action movies have relatively weak scripts but strong action scenes; here the story is even more absurd (and there is no explanation as to why Sammo's "vigilante squad" seem to be so desensitized to killing right from the start), but there is not much action to redeem the picture, either; there is just violence. Sammo himself steps into the spotlight only twice, at the beginning and the end, to show these young pretenders how it's done. Finally he realizes that his whole "project" was misguided - as is this film. *1/2 out of 4.

This is about as bad as it gets. Sammo raised a group of kids and is their Godfather. He has them kill people for him. So the real heart of the story that were left with is the interractions between this group of 20 year olds. Prepare to be bored out of your mind. I watched this with a friend and we had the sound down at the end and were doing our own dubbed voices. We had to do something, because the movie is unwatchable. Sammo gets some brief action at the beginning and end, but other than that the movie is a complete waste of time.///////////////

Usually an Asian film based on the mafia/yakuza or the police with nothing but gunfights will be instant crowd pleasers with most men. There is not much to it as all you need is good choreographed scenes, high body count and a lot of bullets flying throughout the movie. This film took a rather simplistic formula and completely botched it. In real life, you'd never give a child nor an idiot a gun and just tell them, "Go kill people with it." This film lets 4 bumbling idiots go shoot at anyone they want. At times, I wasn't sure if this film was trying to be a serious film or just a bad comedy. If you want to play a cruel joke on your friends who are into Asian action films then have them watch this film. For anyone else, avoid this film.
