Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

You will be ashamed of me, but as a man with an eclectic taste for films, every now and then, I must take in a guilty pleasure. The Heartbreak Kid is a forgotten Farrelly Bros. gross-out comedy. Understandably, audiences and critics thought it was a bit much. Critics lambasted it for being mean-spirited. Compared to There's Something About Mary, I admit, there is no shred of sweetness in any of the characters here. They are all despicable. Stiller's character especially. A low-life, cheating, scumbag if there ever was one. The film wants you to root for him... in finding the sexier, saner woman over Stiller's troubled newlywed. Everything about that is wrong, wrong, wrong. But that's the joke. The Heartbreak Kid thrives on cringe humor. I'd say, in a similar vein to Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's funny, particularly because the situation is so horrible. Then you pair it up with the endless gross-out humor that the Farrelly's are famous for, but this time, on steroids. Jokes about pubic hair, urine, devastating sunburns, jellyfish attacks and things that should never be up someone's nose. The traveling mariachi band particularity had me rolling. It all works, except for one joke with a Donkey that genuinely went way too far. The Heartbreak Kid is not great cinema. It's trash. But it's funny trash and that's better than nothing.

A newly wed man who believes he's just gotten hitched to the perfect woman encounters another lady on his honeymoon. The Heartbreak Kid (2007) is one of those films that some people will like and some won't like personally i'm on the middle i liked the performances from Ben Stiller, Jerry Stiller, Michelle Monaghan, Malin Akerman, Rob Corddry and Danny McBride and they are in my opinion some good actors that can do both comedy and drama and anything that you want and that's the good thing. Now when the movie tries to be funny? It's kinda of a letdown for example Akerman pee on Stiller's back and seeing her privates isn't that funny to be honest or some really unsexy sex scenes. If you can deal with the weird humor and some weird moments in general you might actually like this movie it was fun mostly cause of the actors. (7.5/10)

Entertaining and fun, all the way through! And with a really great soundtrack too. It starts out looking like a typical romantic comedy, but I think it's not. The humor is a little bit darker, smarter and less cuddly. I'm almost prepared to give it an 8.So why do so many dislike? Well I think people mistook it for another cuddly romantic comedy. It's not. And some think that the characters are unlikeable. Well they are not. Eddie, Stiller's main character, is trying to do the right thing - all the time. He just happens to have a pushy and whimsical father (spot on by Jerry Stiller) that makes him not always make the right choices. And there is some bad timing involved. This is what could have happened to any of us!Some say that the girl wasn't that bad, she didn't deserve what happened. Well maybe not, but she wasn't too innocent either. It wasn't just the small things, it was the combination of all of it, all stacked together, and her attitude on top of it. It's okay when people are not super smart, but when dumb and with bad attitude, ignorance and perhaps a hint of manipulative, it's not good. And the way some women tend to mentally disturb their husbands and they just let it happen to avoid further domestic trouble, it's so sad but not too far from reality. Women should stop henpecking their men. Be kind.

Stiller has made some funny movies but his brain must have gone walkabout for this one. This is pure drivel - and frankly horrible at times. There are a lot of unnecessary and tasteless sex scenes that would look out of place in one of those cheap teen romps, let alone in a movie about supposedly fairly mature people. The characters are one-dimensional and mostly unpleasant people who cannot possibly captivate any audience with half a brain. The stereotypes are from another age - getting white people to dress up and put on a funny accent to play Mexicans is not something you expect to see in the 21st century.Having had the misfortune to waste my money on the DVD, the 'special features' endorse my opinion that this film was made by a bunch of immature, ignorant half-wits. Just don't waste your time on it.
