I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

I know, it was pretty hard for me to imagine Seth Rogan as a superhero too, but as it turns out things aren't exactly as they appear. In this 2011 re-imaging of the series, Rogan play Britt Reid, the son of a billionaire publisher, who (surprise surprise) is a big time party animal, with no real ambition in life. When his father passes away suddenly, Reid is given this huge empire to run and with no idea how to do it, he starts to lean on the people around him, people like Kato (Jay Chou). Reid knew Kato for years, but knew nothing of what he could create and nothing of the skills he was capable of. With Kato's help, Reid decided to take on crime in the city, only one problem, he sucks at it. This film may be the most evenly scored film I've ever reviewed, because I can honestly say my like and dislikes were exactly fifty-fifty, most notably were the cast. Seth Rogan in the right setting is brilliant and in the wrong setting is just annoying as hell, with that hardly laugh and his never taking anything seriously, it is perhaps never more abundantly apparent as it is here. Cameron Diaz also adds nothing to the cast, but name recognition and a lazy one sided performance. On the other hand, Jay Chou was fantastic as Kato, he was clever, funny, exciting, and in my opinion he made this movie, it simply isn't a superhero film with him. Then there is Christoph Waltz, the man with the mesmerizing voice who forever capture our attention in Inglorious Bastards, and has been the quintessential bad guy in everything since. The bottom line is the new Green Hornet isn't without it's problems, but the story here is better than I expected it to be, there are some stand outs among the cast, and the special effects and fight scenes were hit or miss. This is the kind of film you'll be into or you won't. Just like my list, audiences are going to be fifty-fifty on the one as well.

It has an interesting idea, a different take on the "masked hero/vigilante" theme. He's rich, but goes into the "hero business" out of boredom, rather than some higher purpose. He is not remarkable in any way, but has some success, mostly by way of his capable sidekick and smart (and very hot) secretary. He does good by doing bad and it kind of works.But, it's not fully realized/developed. His Chineese sidekick is difficult to understand most of the time. Cameron Diaz has a role which is not really explored, at least not to the extent others are. We never get why this smart, hot and capable woman, who is not young any more, wants to be a secretary. Even the jokes about her age don't work out. Cristoph Waltz's characters starts great, but at the end becomes silly and shallow.It is fun, but not very much so and not all the time. It is funny only sometimes - too little, since the the movie is silly, so there is no wisdom on insight to be gained here.It's an OK watch, but it leaves one with a feeling it could have been much more.

Aw! Poor rich-kid, Britt Reid. When he was but a sniveling, little brat of 8 his mean, old daddy tore the head right off one of his fave dolls, I mean, action-figures, and threw it away in disgust 'cause he resented his son for being such a wimp, playing with dolls.And this traumatic doll-decapitation ordeal by Daddy-Dearest scarred poor, little Britt for life. So, 20 years later you'll never guess how Britt (still a big, spoiled-rotten baby to the core) exacts his revenge against papa (who, of course, is now dead so Britt doesn't have to fret about being disinherited by the bastard).You know, the fact that Elmer Fudd, I mean, Seth Rogen, was actor/writer/producer of this stinking turd-of-a-movie explains everything very clearly to me. I think that Rogen (a real doofus dimwit) is the absolute personification of a talking sphincter who's got drippy diarrhea of the mouth and, yes, pure s-h-i-t for brains.This truly tiresome "seen-it-all-before" mess-of-a-movie scrapes the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to Comedy/Action/Superhero flicks. I honestly swear that this one's story was being made up as they went along.Thank goodness that the Green Hornet character didn't have any superpowers to boast about, 'cause, being the repulsive, self-loving slime that Rogen portrayed him as being, having any amazing abilities would've surely rendered him as being utterly vile and obnoxious beyond endurance.It really figured that it was, in fact, Kato who was the real genius behind the Green Hornet.I'm actually surprised that the self-centered Rogen (who co-wrote the script) allowed his character's blatant stupidity and uselessness to be revealed so clearly - 'Cause, with Kato being the brains of this less-than-dynamic-duo, this certainly reduced Rogen's Britt Reid character, of a bored, ass-wipe billionaire, to the level of being a complete blood-sucking leech who uses others for their skills and abilities and then thinks nothing of taking all of the credit for the good that may result from what others have accomplished.As of yet, I have not seen The Green Hornet TV series from 1966 which starred Van Williams as The Hornet and Bruce Lee as Kato - But, I have seen The Green Hornet serial from 1940 which starred Gordon Jones and Keye Luke in their respective roles....And, let me tell ya - In spite of all its many flaws, its b-grade effects, its laughable dialogue, etc-etc-etc, this vintage offering from 1940 was definitely about 100 times more entertaining and exciting than this disgustingly dismal and completely contemptible remake would ever be.It makes no sense to me why Rogen had to go and ruin the likes of The Green Hornet. Why couldn't he have just invented a whole, new superhero to please his over-inflated ego? Why did he have to go and utterly disgrace and belittle the likes of The Green Hornet? Why-oh-why? I honestly don't understand.It really is too bad that this $120 million miscalculation of precious, little Seth's didn't affect his popularity nor change the path of his acting career. But, I see that his rabid fans still love him to pieces and his brain-dead movies are still being rapidly churned out, ad nauseum.You know, the truth is, this detestable-excuse-for-a-movie isn't really worth writing a review about, at all. But, hey, I did waste nearly 2 hours watching this lousy piece of junk, so, I figure that I might as well make some sort of honest effort to try to trash it the best that I can.But, alas, it is of a great misfortune, indeed, that mere words are just not sufficient enough to express how I really feel about Seth Rogen and The Green Hornet.So, there!

The Green Hornet is not something what I expected it to be. It's like having Will Ferell and Mark Wahlberg together in The Other Guys.Seth Rogen as born loser and son inherited all his father's wealth and the newspaper agency turn Green Hornet along with his chauffeur Kato (pronounce as Cay-toe). Adventures into the crime scene. Portraying both good and bad roles.Two guys chasing after a newly hired secretary (Cameron Diaz) in the newspaper agency.Jay Chou has indeed improve his English but his fight scenes are heavily CGi all the way which would reminds you of Jet Li's The One.It's totally like some mixed game and The One in it. Poor storyline.Kevin Smith is best to write the script instead. Read the comic books is better than watching this.Bruce Lee is still the best!!
