Stylish but barely mediocre overall
... View MoreFun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
... View MoreOne of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

... View MoreI really enjoyed this film, the cinematography was amazing, the cast is diverse and beautiful, and the message is warm. Kudos to the director for bringing us a Christian movie that has a great plot. I found myself caring about some key characters in this film. The locations used were also incredibly beautiful, with scenery from New Orleans. My only critique would be the slow pacing dialogue in the film...as well as the confusing relationship between the main and supporting characters. Some actors seem older than the roles they're portraying, and vice versaI encourage everyone to give this film a try. It really made my Friday night special, and I will be buying the DVD when it is released in my area. I look forward to Owen McManus Jr's future work.
... View MoreThe Good Life (2013/II) takes you on a non-stop, mysterious thrill ride from beginning to end. In the beginning the movie gives you a sneaky suspicion that the main character, Mikey Gold, has demons or dark secrets from his past that will obviously guide him throughout this movie and did he ever! I loved the storyline. It had a very in-your-face message of the consequences of our choices. Beautiful actors and the New Orleans and Cancùn, Mexico shooting locations added sexiness and coûture to the movie. There were a lot of unexpected thrilling surprises! Most importantly, it is a good story that everyone should see. My physiological arousal and the visual imagery from the movie lingered for days after the final credits rolled. Kudos to Redd Bone Productions for a valiant and successful first full feature film! first full feature film!
... View Morea lackluster, attempt at film making , The Good Life is amateurish in all respect, except cinematography, credit must be given, to the camera crew, who make it quite picturesque, in its depiction of New Orleans and Mexico. the film is about the redemption of a drug dealer, but where opportunity arose to make this a somewhat interesting film. it just gets overloaded with dialog. in fact the screen writers must have set a record for the most use of inane dialog , that gave no exposition , or moved the plot in any way.none of the actors stood out unless, you count Andrew Benson, who in a collection of bad actors, he took the prize as the most artistically inept. and using the worst accent in film history, he sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger's Gay cousin., The Film a work of Red Bone Productions,a part of New Orleans City Life Church, is just another one of the mega church Film production ministries, that sells films to its ready made audience,a practice done much better, by Kirk Cameron, And Jessie Duplantis, my advise to Director Owen McManus. Stick to the Pulpit, and Leave the film-making to the pros.
