The Freebie Trailers

Annie and Darren have been married for seven years, and they love each other as much as the day they were wed; they're affectionate, have fun together, and enjoy games such as crossword puzzle races. They would seem to have a perfect relationship, except for one thing -- they haven't had sex in ages, and seem to have lost all interest in making love with one another, no matter how they try to put each other in the mood. Hoping to put some adventure back into their lives, Annie and Darren come up with an unusual idea -- they each get one night in which they're free to find someone and have sex with them, scot-free. But is this going to help their relationship, or is it just going to turn a small problem into a big problem?

The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

This movie is just a terrible waste of time. If I never see any of these actors again it will be too soon. The only thing that could have saved this movie would have been if an asteroid crashed into the planet and killed the entire cast. Mercifully sleep took me somewhere around inane conversation number 23. I had much more fun while I was unconscious. I woke up and they were still blathering on about nothing that concerns anyone here in the real world.. Blah, blah blah...shut up already! Please God shut up! Give me more art shots of CA if you must just shut it! If I could give this movie a negative number of stars I would do so without hesitation. Don't make the same mistakes I have made. Move on. Awful.

I thought that the story line, the dialogue and the acting were all outstanding. It was not a comedy or at the least it was a dark comedy. From the very beginning the plot had me in its grips and I found it to be very engaging. This film requires that the audience actually think about what is going on in the story. It requires the viewer to actually feel what it must be like to have this happen in one's life. I think that both characters went through with the plan not because they wanted to have casual sex with someone else but because they loved their partner enough to do what they had agreed to in the beginning. I think that it was clear that they did have sex with the other people exactly how it was depicted in the film. Then we need to sit back and see how two people who truly love each other handle that fact and then move toward getting on with their life. It is not a feel good movie but it is a great movie about feelings.

"The Freebie" is about a couple who decide to give each other one free night off from their marriage. It sounds like the upcoming Owen Wilson comedy "Hall Pass"(2011), except in this case it's not a comedy. At least I don't think it's a comedy. It has been marketed as one but I don't think it was the filmmaker's intention.Instead of cheap laughs, we get a very personal, introspective look into one couple's relationship. Dax Shepard and director Katie Aselton play Darren and Annie who claim that they have the best relationship—with open communication and complete honesty. The film doesn't just tell us they are open and honest but we see it, and experience it, for ourselves. They are more open and honest than I imagine most real life couples ever could be.The question of, "is there such thing as too honest?" comes up when Darren expresses to Annie that he sometimes has a desire to sleep with somebody else. Since they are so confident with what they have, they foresee no problems with each other having a freebie. The film actually finds a way to explore this set-up in a fairly interesting way. I was very curious with the fate of their relationship and I wanted to see how it would get there.I was a bit concerned that there was no comedy, and there was nothing else to the story, but I think they came up with a new way to tell the same old story—a story about sex, but without resorting to showing us sexy stars in naked poses. Instead, we just got a very naked, raw examination of a relationship. "The Freebie" is definitely worth a look if that sounds interesting to you.

The film stars Dax Shepard and Katie Aselton. She directed the film about a couple's decision to have a one-night stand outside the marriage.Definitely a raw topic that merited being explored. it's good that a movie could hopefully save a few broken hearts. The movie carried an intensity that definitely holds your attention. during the Q&A I learned that it was mostly done extemporaneously, and I was very impressed. Fun way to make a movie. A notch above the field in quality.Really clever film. The script was fantastic, and the characters had great chemistry. If you are currently in a relationship, this movie will give you a good laugh. Definitely worth seeing.
