It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

The movie name (The Formula) sounds as a good name and the main story idea (even if it's used before by some professionals) is good but we are talking here about a low budget amateur movie with too many reasons to hate it. The actors do not know how to act I was not convinced by any of them to be even a second or third actor in any other movie. A really boring movie from the start till the end, the sequence of the whole story line is not logic and the scenario seems to be written by a beginner. Really bad sound quality and bad picture quality too. They took too long time at the beginning in side talks that do not take you to the core of the story. There is no any kind of sense of humor, comedy scenes or romance. don't waste your time on it.

"The Formula" or as synopsis says story about two engineering students who discover a mathematical formula to pick up women with ease.Even if you think of this movie as an amateur or student movie it is still a complete waste of time. From begging you will notice the horrible camera and awful sound, but that is not all it gets even worse, scenario is obviously written by a stupid teenager or someone completely untalented.Movie starts as low budget boring story and it turns into nonsense and stupidity without any trace of comedy or romance mentioned in genre. So just a fair warning don't waste your time on this one, because you can not even call it a bad joke.

I just got back from a screening of "The Formula" at my local small town theater. Sadly, I was the only person who showed up. Lots of people in the area missed out on a terrific film. Present at the screening were director Joe Clarke and lead actor Brandon Baker, who were both very pleasant to be around and helpful in answering questions. The movie takes on what could be a "B-movie comedy" premise, and sometimes, that's what it feels like. Stick it out though! The final act of the film is genuinely inspired and a treat to watch. It outlines some serious truths about life and love that you wouldn't see coming from the first half of the film. As for the acting, Baker's character and his roommate have great romantic chemistry and really do seem like they have a real friendship. When they're happy on screen, you're enjoying it too. When they're fighting or in pain, you feel it too. The comedic moments between these two characters are great, backed up by solid writing. Some of the jokes fall flat, but overall, it's a pretty funny movie. I'm glad I decided to check out this movie tonight. I highly recommend it and look forward to seeing Clarke's work in the future!
