i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
... View MoreAfter playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
... View MoreThis movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreAs I write this it's Halloween. To keep the vibe of the spooky season going I've been watching a lot of horror flicks, many of them slashers. I was pleasantly surprised to see this film, given that they took a different approach to their setting in general. One can always say that suspense/horror films take a similar formula, but I greatly appreciated the filmmakers shaking things up with their locations and time of year. It's a well pieced together film that takes a look at the personal relationships we all deal with on an every day basis. The trailer and poster pulled me in right away and I wasn't disappointed. I'm personally a big fan of independent filmmaking so I had a special interest in this movie. Give it a watch for yourself and enjoy the ride.
... View MoreNot your typical thriller/horror film because these friends, and this story, are written to showcase the relationships between them as people. It's cool to see such fleshed out characters who have history with each other in this genre. It's a much more involving story than a simple horror movie. The editing, score, camera work, lighting and location all carry through nicely, working to amp up the tension and suspense and help add dimension. It's not a slash and gore fest. It's a well told story of 4 friends spending a New Year's together in a remote area and it step-by-step going wrong. A well done indie that is part psychological thriller, part ensemble drama, part character study and part scary movie. Well worth the watch.
... View MoreThis movie is popcorn flick gold. Curl up on the couch, at night, lights off, and prepared to be scared. Have a flashlight on standby. The actor, Al Thompson, is epic. He's great to watch. The minute he's on screen, you're like bam... I didn't know I could watch more intensely. The Eve is set on Martha's Vineyard and the filmmakers use the space nicely. Really making the environment part of the movie. I don't want to ruin it, but it's definitely a scary movie. And the... well... no spoiler... it's creepy. Very creepy. Watch it. For the people who are knocking it. This isn't a hack and slash blood and torture movie. If you're into that. You won't find it here. You want some screams and frights. Watch The Eve.
... View MoreFirst of all, let me start by saying that this movie is shot quiet beautifully! Very nice job on the cinematography. But there's more to it than that. And I want to point out that I disagree with anyone who is saying this is a standard Hollywood type setup. It is not the standard set up. Most Hollywood type films have a group of teenage kids, with no character development, just randomly go off somewhere isolated to drink, party and just be annoying. Then they methodically get picked of one by one. In this movie what the filmmakers focus on are a group of adults. Not kids. And they have purpose and reasoning behind what they are doing. The setup for this movie is nicely done. The filmmakers are not in a rush to get to the dramatic twist and that should be applauded. I'm curious to see what else these filmmakers do in the future.
