I'm not being nostalgic. The Empire Strikes Back is seriously the best movie of all time. This movie not only set the gold standard for Star Wars but also for movies in general. Very few large blockbusters can top this level of quality. The excellent storytelling, awesome characters, and amount of emotion is absolutely impressive. There is a reason why many people view this as the greatest movie of all time. Like Star Wars (1997), the Empire Strikes Back is more than a movie. It is an emotional experience. Storytelling:The storytelling in this movie is absolutely incredible. This movie is much more than just Luke Skywalker getting trained by Yoda and losing to Darth Vader at the end. This movie is about Luke Skywalker learning faith, patience, and control. Luke's lack of faith held him back from achieving his potential. Luke's lack of patience and control lead him to face Darth Vader without complete training, lose his arm, and face the harsh truth that Darth Vader is his father. It was wonderful to see Luke in the end happy and faithful despite the hardship and mistakes he made in the movie. Also, the romance between Han Solo and Leia Organa was amazing. Their chemistry was perfect and the development was believable. Their romance is the best romance in cinematic history.Characters:The character were fantastic in this movie. They were totally relatable, charming, well-written, and perfectly developed. Luke Skywalker: Best movie protagonist of all time. He lacked faith, control, and patience, leading to his defeat in this movie. He was still strong after his defeat.Yoda: Most inspiring character of all time. Silly yet wise old master who tested Luke's patience and trained Luke as a Jedi. His presence always carries emotion.Han Solo and Leia Organa: Excellent characters. At first, they were frustrated and impatient with each other. They then grew to love and care about each other throughout the movie. Seeing Han Solo being trapped in carbonate and Leia's reaction was a perfect scene.Lando Calrissian: Charming likable scoundrel. Darth Vader: Excellent villain. His intimidating, his motivations are clear, and his line are epic and memorable. Emotion:This movie had tons of emotion in it because the characters and the storytelling were fantastic. Here are the many emotional scenes in this movie:"You could use a good kiss" Scene"You will go to the Dagobah System" Scene"I cannot teach him" SystemAsteroid Field SceneHan and Leia Kiss for the First TimeYoda Lifts the X-WingLuke Leaves Yoda"They never even asked me any questions" SceneHan Solo Carbonite SceneDarth Vader Reveals to Luke the TruthLuke reachers out to LeiaEnding SceneWow, I'm impressed how much emotion this movie has. This is the product of great characters and great storytelling.Acting/Dialogue:The acting and dialogue is perfect. There are so many memorable lines in this movie. It is spectacular.Pacing:This movie is perfectly paced. There is never a dull moment in this movie. It is a fun ride start to finish. In Conclusion:The Empire Strikes Back is the greatest movie of all time because it understands the importance of great characters, great storytelling, and use of emotion. This movie is not only my favorite Star Wars but it is my favorite movie of all time. I am certainly going to give this movie the highest grade possible.Grade: 100%

I hold this movie up with the first greatest sequel of all time, The Bride of Frankenstein. Simply a great, and breathtaking movie from the opening battle on Hoth to the great reveal by Vader (which I still won't mention here). The story flows brilliantly and is a more than worth successor, and in some ways is better, that A New Hope. One of the best movies of the 1980's and beyond.

The Star wars Saga has amazing titles, however I find the Empire Strikes back to be one of the must profound and meaningful movie of this saga. The performances and synergy of all the characters make this movie the top pick in my books. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for some sci/drama.

Arguably the best Star Wars film, and once again one of the best films ever made. The Empire Strikes Back proved Star Wars a force to be reckoned with, by not pertaining to the sequels of its time and building on the story, characters, and plot. Giving us a darker, fun, adventure filled film that exceeded its predecessor and gave us even more classic film and Star Wars moments.
