A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

It's sad to see how many negative reviews this movie had, especially on rottentomatoes. The acting was well done with „unique" actors and the dinosaurs were simply made beautiful. The story is thrilling and the start and end are matching like a closed circle, yet leaves an open ending which almost forces for a sequel – which I really hope there will be. The only reason I'm not giving 10 stars is exactly because of the ending – it left me at unease because we are left with no clue whatsoever if they did survive, only that they weren't found. I'd even go so far to say I prefer this one over the Jurassic Park series (although there is no T-Rex and, of course, nothing beats the beautiful feeling of nostalgia that overcomes you when you hear the well-composed Jurassic Park soundtrack ) because Jurassic Park is really predictable, especially now with its continuously repeating story lines whereas this one is refreshingly different. Yes, it was predictable from some point on that this one gay went nuts (besides, he played an incredibly convincing „crazy face"), yet there is barely a movie without any predictable scenes – and ironically, the best rated movies are usually the most predictable ones. The Dinosaur Project is an absolute must for dinosaur lovers, don't miss out on it because some people go for Spielberg-Loyalty over actual entertainment.

THE DINOSAUR PROJECT is (somewhat surprisingly) a British B-movie that charts a group of explorers and documentary film-makers as they venture deep into the Congo in search of a legendary dinosaur said to exist somewhere within the jungle swamps. It's low budget and badly written, with some moments that are frankly boring given the material, but it's not the worst of this genre. The biggest problem with the movie is the decision to go for a family-friendly rating. Thus any deaths or attacks by dinosaurs are kept off-screen, robbing the movie of suspense and entertainment value. It's clear that the producers were going for a 'JURASSIC PARK as found footage' vibe, but it's not really all that successful. The no-name cast don't really contribute any decent performances of note, and the characters are weak. At times, like with the introduction of a friendly dinosaur, this feels more like BABY: SECRET OF THE LOST LEGEND than a proper adult film. I can't imagine many people sitting through it are likely to enjoy that sort of stuff. The effects are workable rather than remarkable and there's a twist or two of sorts to keep you going, but it's all rather predictable and the ending just sort of fizzes out. Not very memorable.

This film scores a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.7/10 on IMDb. That is nothing short of ridiculous. This film had absolutely nothing worth complaining about. The dinosaur CGI was totally top notch. It was possibly even better than what was used in the Jurassic Park films. The acting was great, saying I hadn't heard or seen any of the actors involved in anything else. The storyline was not only very, very interesting; but it was actually somewhat plausible, at least comparably to growing dinos out of DNA found in amber. Everything about this film was just great. I cannot comprehend these low scores in the least. Watch this for a true treat. Fans of dino films will be happily surprised by this gem. 10/10 stars.

When I sat down to watch The Dinosaur Project, I didn't have high hopes (as I'd seen a couple of unfavourable reviews), but what I got was 80 minutes of interesting and exciting adventure. A team of explorers sets off on an expedition into the heart of Africa to verify strange reports of mysterious sightings. It's shot using a variety of hand-held cameras akin to Cloverfield, The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. The acting and certain CGI creatures (the little bat-dino things looked great) are a bit sub-par, but I easily looked over these flaws to enjoy the interesting idea that this film toys with. There are your typical action and adventure scenes that you would expect from a movie full of carnivorous dinosaurs. Some parts of the film feel disjointed, and you're left wondering why the produces left those parts in (the antagonist especially), but otherwise it's surprisingly suspenseful and even heartwarming during certain scenes. I personally enjoyed it. Don't start watching the movie and expect to see something as good as Jurassic Park, rather enjoy it for what it is: A good adventure film that is a bit rough around the edges.
