We all know that movie covers do lie to us and portray a movie more attractive than it actually is. But saying this has "creative" ways in any connection is just absolutely unacceptable! While you may be able to overlook the "acting" and the "story" itself, there should be something that makes this at least a bit interesting. And here we come to the other selling point of it: Twist If you want to call it that. It's completely insane and nothing people will be amazed by. On the other end, there is neither enough blood or nudity to hold the attention of the intended group of watchers. Don't get me wrong there is blood and there is some nudity and intercourse. The latter depicted in two scenes. And one of them is shot in a nice way actually (intercut with people dancing and music people might find good). That and the beautiful people in it, might make this bearable for you. Better script and some nice effects next time and we're good

I admit my expectations were low when I started watching, but from the very first spine-tingling moment I was captivated. The film opens with a tension-filled scene set in a seedy part of Hollywood. The photography is comparable to Citizen Kane, combined with the amazingly original plot line of a hooker who meets up with a madman and utters the classic line "Do you like it rough?" just before he kills her.Kudos to the scriptwriter for that totally unexpected plot point. From the minute we see the crazy psycho sitting in a darkened corner of the motel room, we have no idea what he's about to do. And neither did the hooker. This sense of shock twists and turns its way through the film. And although the plot gets lost somewhere in the fog of film-making, this masterpiece culminates in a teenage-party murder-fest the likes of which I've never seen before. The continuity and editing need a special mention. The smooth transition from a pool party filled with 40 teenagers to a darkened house with no more than 6 people within the blink of an eye was superb and truly caught me off guard. I can only guess the editor and director collaborated on this master-stroke of confusion. And the reveal at the end of the movie was a total shock. I won't spoil the twist in this short review, leaving it to the viewer to enjoy the outcome. Finally, look out for the actress who played the handicapped girl. A truly Oscar-winning performance; she deserves a nomination nod at the very least. She totally grabbed my attention when she fell asleep on the bench at the party, and then put all her emotion into raising a finger to point at the bedroom 'She's up there' she stammers, pure terror etched on her face. Not to mention the climax where she hobbled and stumbled away from the killer, and decided that a dark alley would be the perfect place to hide. Hollywood watch out!

Let me admit from the first that I am a fan of the lovely Miss Liz Di Prinzio and that I see a great future for her and that she is definitely one of the best things about this movie and I can see more better and better films coming Liz's way as she masters her craft. She is both talented and a very hard worker and very honest and passionate about her work and that shows through in this film. The movie has lots of good points and like any budget teen flick also has all the negative points like stereotyping and mixed degrees of skills from both in front and behind the camera. In the end the good points outweigh the bad and this flick has enough fun and gore and teen sexiness to entertain. The opening scenes are edited really well although the alley scene, while critical to the story could have been handled better. The second half of the film flows better than the first part and the director needs to show more pace when establishing his actors or give them some tighter dialogue. The highlight was the dumb and dumber actors and of course the two female leads, Liz Di Prinzio and Sarah Harrison with good support from the vampy teen *itch played by Liz Bell. All three bring something to their roles and the beefcake school jock is exactly what you would expect, but he is outshone in all his scenes opposite Liz and Liz!!! The murder scenes were pretty well executed with some nice touches, which I won't reveal here, and the denouement is well done too and better than a lot of similar films in this genre.Overall this film gets a 6 from me, but for movie lovers who like to see actors who are going places then see this one and enjoy Liz Di Prinzio and her two fellow female leads because I can see good things in the coming years. I love watching actors develop and change and grow and despite this film's budget restrictions it's still well worth checking out and has some excellent moments and nice touches.

Now, when I first heard about The Devil Within I was thrilled and when I read the synopsis I was even more but after I got done watching it I thought… it wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. There is lots of room for improvement but there were some good things about it. The main story centers on a group of 'high schoolers' who are throwing a super 18 party, well, drama between the group heightens and on top of that… there is a killer loose. What I really enjoyed about this movie was the overall theme of this story… near the beginning of the film there is a long lecture of the 7 deadly sins and how greed leads to all sins, which is an interesting theory and it's also brilliant to see how these analogies play into the film because every character in this film is guilty of these sins. When the end twist arrives, it plays out real nice. The beginning played out well and it really sets up the tone of what this movie could have been and even in the end sequences, this movie gets heightened really fast and it turns into a horror/slasher flick that I actually enjoyed. There was blood, there were brutal killing scenes and I really enjoyed the twist. With that being said… there were some things that I did not like. First off, I was mislead into thinking this would be a supernatural thriller with the principal killing for rituals, then most of the movie turned out to be a teen drama and it wasn't horror until the very end, so to me this movie wasn't sure of what it was. I was kind of disappointed because I really wanted this to be a slasher or a supernatural movie. The characters were unlikeable with the exception of three; two being a couple of idiots and one being a teen struggling against her alternate lifestyle and the others are unlikeable… even the ones that I liked turned out to be cheating and bad and I get it's realism but I wasn't please. In essence, this movie was okay, it wasn't the best and it sort of let me down but I think this movie had a powerful message and I understand why the movie is called The Devil Within but I really wish this movie had executed properly. There were some powerful scenes but there is room for improvement. This movie was excellent but from a general movie standpoint it's okay.http://www.horrorsociety.com/
