Stylish but barely mediocre overall
... View MoreThis story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
... View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
... View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
... View MoreWARNING:you won't find here any Beatles music nor even cover versions or instrumentals;the soundtrack is the weakest link of this documentary. So don't expect live performances or studio rehearsals. The main interest of this movie is rare footage with rather interesting interviews ;it often focuses on the Beatles' not-so-high income ("he (Epstein) cheated us !");a whole "chapter" is devoted to Jimmy Nichol who was not able to cope with his return to normal life and went bankrupt the following year;the director seems more interested in the sociological phenomenon than in the music itself (we don't hear anything anyway except for some vague background piano ,guitar or -when they go to India- sitar). The MBE medals ,Lennon's notorious statement about Jesus -with an interview of a member of the KKK!- Ringo's tonsils are included .The title is no misnomer since the movie abruptly ends with Lennon's peace campaign (and a voice over telling us ,we might have forgotten about it,that he was murdered). The "let it be " sessions and the "Abbey Road " album are not mentioned and there's almost nothing about the split:a whole docu should be made about it anyway. This is an interesting document for Beatles fans ;the absence of songs can be off-putting for the others.
